We are planning a road trip and are thinking about being in Vegas for NYE.
We never do anything big for NYE. This will be a first. It will also be the first time we will be in Vegas. Are we crazy or what?
Anyone in Vegas have any tips?
Looking at hotels... Rio or Flamingo? On the strip or off the strip?

No big plans! I'll probably hang out with BIL and SIL since DH will be at work! We are both pregnant and soo much fun!

Um, I'm pretty sure if you're in Vegas for NYE, you HAVE to stay on the strip!
NYE is DH's first day at his new job, so we will be going to bed early.

DH just informed me he volunteered to work 3-11pm NYE and 9am-5pm NYD, so sounds like we won't be doing anything =/

We have plans! We're spending 4 days at this great hotel and spa we love on a big lake in NH - http://millfalls.com/inns/church_landing.htm. We've got 2 couples massages scheduled, and we'll do a fancy dinner on NYE and then watch the fireworks on the lake in our favorite gazebo. The rest of the time I plan to spend relaxing in the indoor pool and hot tub. Should be relaxing and romantic, I can't wait! I more excited for NYE than Christmas.

My family rents ice time at a local rink and then my Aunt and Uncle host a party and poker tourney after skating. It's a great time!

We are conflicted on this one. It's our first NYE with our LO. Either my mom will babysit and we will go to a party or we will take LO to the party for a couple hours earlier and leave and have a nice night in (most likely) or stay home completely.

Oh, that would be fun! Plans are not decided yet. We are going to a wedding in Cali on the 30th, so may just stick around and spend NYE with my brother & SIL or other friends in the area!

There's a really good mexican restaurant at the MGM Grant called Diego!
I like to stay on the strip. Watch the show at Treasure Island and walk around.
We're doing dinner with some of DH's friends on NYE. My doc specifically told me to get home pretty early because of the drunks so we don't get hit by someone.

We always go to a family party. I'm not really excited for it this year, it's usually at either my mom's house or at a neighbors but a different family friend is hosting it so it's further away, it starts at LO's bed time, they don't have a lot of rooms and there will be a lot of babies there so they're probably going to keep each other up all night..... and we'll probably just end up having to go home early.

No plans for us, but wooo Vegas! We got married & had our honeymoon there last year. Stayed at the MGM grand, which was great! The monorail, which is rarely even close to crowded, is a cool way to get between casinos on the strip. Check out the Bellagio gardens if you have a chance! Oh and we went to this surprisingly amaaazing restaurant called Hash House a Go Go in the grungy Imperial Palace casino. Best food ever!

@Smurfette: I love Asheville! My MIL has a cabin in the mountains about 30 minutes away from there.
If AF shows up I'm going to go out! My DH had been working a month straight last NYE and he fell asleep really early so we didn't do anything.

We have absolutely nothing planned...which I'm totally fine with! It's been a crazy busy month, so I wouldn't be opposed to pizza and tv (though, then again, when am I EVER opposed to that...).

@Leialou: DH and I went when we were first dating for out first weekend away. Loved it. Looking forward to exploring more, since last time we pretty much spend most of Sat at the Biltmore. Any good restaurant recommendations?

I hope you are good with crowds! I spent NYE in Vegas a few years back and it was like, less than standing room only. Suuupperrr crowded! Not my idea of a good time, but everyone I was with enjoyed it!
This year we'll just have a few drinks and probably go to my SIL's (gag)
@Smurfette: I looked into that for my parents for Christmas, that is so expensive, though! I'll need to hear ALL about it when you get back

@MrsTiz: It is so expensive, $150 for the two of us. But it our last trip with friends before baby, so why not. Plus we got our hotel pretty cheap. We usually rent a cabin with friends, so we are still saving money this way. I will let you know how it is. I have heard it is beautiful! I just hope all the walking doesn't make my back hurt too much.

@Smurfette: $150? That must be what is sold out. What I was looking at was a NYE package and was $1800. That is crazytown! 150 is not too bad! I'll be there in January Woop woop HB's in NC!

I'll be 10 days from D-Day, so we're just laying low. My sister and brother-in-law might come stay with us. Maybe we'll go out for dinner or something.

@MrsTiz: That is still expensive even given all it includes. Next year try and make your own package. You could find another hotel just as nice but way cheaper then the Biltmore. Which is why I have never stayed there.

@MrsTiz: We probably won't leave our hotel. I just want to watch fireworks. Kinda boring but you think we'll be okay? I'm still figuring out if we should stay on the strip or off if we are only watching the events.
On the strip the rooms are like 350 sq while hotels off the strip are 600 sq. I just want to watch TV and fireworks from a warm hotel room.
Omg I sound so boring but its what we like.

@Smurfette: I've stayed at the Inn before- it is so nice, but I would rather not be there for New Years if that is how much the room costs lol!
I booked my parents the Bed & Breakfast package, which has similar stuff, one nights stay, two admissions, etc (albeit no fireworks) for $300.

@bluestriped bee: That's what I did! You will be able to see the fireworks from your room no matter where you are. I think I was in the Wynn that time, and we had no problem seeing them from my window. Everyone will be hype during the day, so you can get all your energy out that way and be cozy for the fireworks. Seriously it looks like Times Square down there!

@bluestriped bee: I stayed at the Flamingo about 8 years ago. It was ok, but I probably wouldn’t stay there again. They nickel and dime you for tons of stuff that would generally be included in the price of the room at other hotels. They also shut off the water between 1am-4am so when your drunk ass got back to the room and was thirsty you were very likely to break into the $5 bottles of water in the room. 
Maybe they have improved since then though! (Hopefully!)
I think we are going to have a cocktail party/house warming on NYE but we’re not 100% sure yet. If we do, the menu will be Hunger Games themed (I have a blog of food found in novels, and there is a ton of good food in the Hunger Games trilogy that would work well as cocktail party food).
