We are (finally) eloping in August. If it were up to me, I would probably just not get married, but it's something he really wants so of course I will do it for him. We just celebrated our eighth anniversary so I guess it's about time!

We didn't elope but we had a teeny tiny wedding (compared to most). 14 people total in attendance (including bride and groom!).
It didn't really save us money long term, we still have no money.

we eloped! 1 year ago today at the San Francisco courthouse!
Totally don't regret it. Though it took a while for my mom to come to terms with it. We hired a photographer to take pictures and sent out combo "we got married & we're knocked up" announcements since I was 16 weeks preggers at the time.
We'd been engaged since christmas and knew the entire time that eloping was what we wanted.

We got married in a courthouse with our immediate family. I didn't want a big wedding because I have this crazy fear of people paying attention to me. I once fainted in the middle of a ceremony of my friend's wedding ( I was a bridesmaid), never again.

No regrets with how we got married, we saved that money for our house.

We went with 42 of our closest people and it.was.awesome! It probably didn't save us much money but it gave us the wedding we wanted - not the cookie cutter wedding I've been to so many times in our city. We were already living in our 3rd (and forever) home...my thoughts were marriage was just the step needed before children. Now, I really cherish the vows, I guess you can't appreciate what you don't know.

@Bookish: we stayed at the MGM. We had the ceremony there in their Forever Grand chapel and the dinner was in the buffet restaurant. After we packed up 2 hummer limos, visited the sign and spent the evening on Freemont. My only regret is that I changed out of my dress...I wish I kept it on after dinner.

We got married at the chapel at TI. We went back for our first anniversary, and the next month was our pregnancy. We wanted to go back for our 5th anniversary (this year), but I'll be birthing our 2nd about a week after our anniversary.

We got married at the county courthouse, just the two of us. The "ceremony" was not more than 5 minutes long, lol. It was perfect! My husband came on a fiancé visa, so we only had a limited amount of time to get married before his visa expired. A year later we had a very small ceremony in my home town, followed by lunch at a cute little restaurant owned by a family friend. It was fun! I'm glad we did it that way instead of a big wedding.

We did! We got married in our city in a historical building that was originally a synagogue. Just us.

We had a courthouse wedding with immediate family (plus friends) so a guestlist of 12. Lo was 2 or 3 months old then and I couldn't justify spending a large amount of money on one day when we had lo to look after.

@oliviaoblivia: I know many friends who did exactly that due to visa situations!

We had a 14 person wedding (immediate family & grandparents). I loved it. The only thing I regret was my mother's email to the rest of the family to stay away from my grandparents house that day because of our private wedding. Nice, mom.

She made up for it by hosting a very nice backyard reception for us a few months later. I didn't have to plan a single thing which is what I wanted. If I could have gotten married at my reception I would have. However, I know my reception wouldn't have been as laid back and stress free if it was our wedding. I was totally relaxed because I had the wedding I wanted with all my gorgeous pictures (from my $300 photographer) and everything.

I'm really happy with how it turned out (minus that awful email).

We got married in Vegas. It was incredibly fun and no drama. We've been married almost 5 years and people will still tell us how we had the most wedding!
