Just looking for others to commiserate with really. I don't know anyone IRL and also havent seen anyone mention these issues on the boards before. Its very isolating!

There is one mom in my preemie group with a g tube...let me know if you'd like I contact her or join the group!
How's it going?

It's ok. I've given him some bottles (like 10ml or so at a time) and he swallows very well, but afterwards I guess he generates more saliva because he ate, which just hangs out at the back of his throat for a while, although he eventually handles it (if I don't give in and suction him out first). I am hoping/thinking that this means he has learned to swallow purposefully, but not quite yet involuntarily or without oral stimulation. No one gave me the all clear to try but I feel that he needs some practice to figure it all out. We have an appointment with the GI folks ext week and I am debating coming clean that I've been trying with him, or playing dumb and just requesting another swallow study.
He has a few really quick apnea/Brady alarms every now and then, always recovering before I can even touch him. He's still on caffiene, probably they will try to stop it in about a month, just hoping that goes well so he can get off of the monitor. We only really use it when he's sleeping alone or in the car.
Honestly a big killer is that we have a 50% copay on all this equipment and supplies
If your preemie group doesn't mind new faces I think having more folks to talk to would be super helpful

@beaker: can you send me another email? Or find me on fb?
I think it's fine to tell them you've been trying; it makes sense.
Also Dylan Brady'd all the time up u til right when we left but it was mostly only with feeding so the nurses didn't even really care. I think he did a few times after we came home even (no monitors) but he recovered easily. Eventually he totally grew out of it.
