I need ideas! This may be our last year as non-parents (TTC this Spring!) so I want to do something fun and different! Any Valentine's traditions or good suggestions? We always just go to a restaurant since my husband loves food lol, I need help!

Probably just dinner. We usually go out for lunch but DH is working.

We don't usually go out because everywhere jacks up the prices and hate the crowds. This year I"m away for work over vday weekend, so hubby will probably hang out with friends, and I have been offering to babysit for co-workers so they can go out for dinner, no bites yet.

We usually just go out to a nice dinner. Ain't broke don't fix type thing.
This year I picked the restaurant a farm to table/ vegan friendly place. My Vday add-on since this year it's on a Saturday was 20 minute scenic helicopter ride, but that was vetoed. I'm now on the hunt for a BYOB art class where you drink wine and an instructor helps you paint a masterpiece by numbers.

If you like to go out on VDay, I'd pick a place you definitely won't be able to make it to as easily once your LO arrives - maybe a restaurant a little further away. We drove 1.5 hours to a popular fine dining restaurant and a brewery this summer 1 month before LO was due.

Chocolate!
We keep it simple on V day. I also got some cute minion valentines for Tor.

We're taking a couples cooking class the night before. We've always wanted to and haven't yet so it should be fun!

We usually go to my favorite steak sandwich/beer place. I love it because it is always empty on Valentine's Day so we can sit and talk for a long time. But this year I can't have beer so for some reason I agreed to go to the country club with OH's parents for dinner. At least I'll get a free fancy dinner.
In your case, I do echo other recommendations of going somewhere which you wouldn't want to take a kid.

We get drunk at home. But I'm pregnant this year. Maybe go out for fancy desserts? I may pick up strawberries to dip in chocolate. Yummmm

My parents are coming over and staying the weekend! So nice to live near family now. We're all going to have a home made dinner together. DH and I may go out to the movies after LO is asleep.

We have tickets to Cirque de Soleil and then going out for a fancy dinner after. We're also staying at a hotel and getting massages the next morning. It's also my birthday weekend, so we usually go all out!

We have two valentine's day traditions. We go wine tasting every year. Some years it's local, other years it's a weekend getaway. The other tradition is DH always gets me theater or ballet tickets as my gift which is basically a guaranteed date for the future.

Our son's birthday is on V-DAY so we will celebrate as a family.
For our first valentines day as a married couple (and last without a child) we went to a Japanese restaurant. I also baked my husband some cookies and delivered them to his job.

@sapphire: ooo! That sounds magical! I'm jealous! I don't have weekends off, so I hardly ever get to do awesome things like that! Enjoy your birthday!
@Meowkers: I wish my DH liked wine I love it! And with a hopeful baby soon, I could use all the Pinot Noir I can get this coming year!
@FancyGem: aww, a Valentine's baby! That's a great idea about delivering treats to your DH at work! My husband just mentioned today that he wouldn't mind me doing that every once in a while (he's a teacher)
@jhd: OMG cute! Do you make it?!

@autumnleaves: this is a great idea! Maybe we can stay the night in that city as well for an extra treat! Thanks!

We're getting a baby for Valentine's Day, so that's a pretty great present

@mrschickpea: when we were first married there was a pizza place nearby that made it. Now we make it ourselves at home.

My DH's birthday is the day before, so Valentines Day is pretty low-key here. I'll cook a special dinner and he'll let me pick a movie to watch at home.

@Mrs. Jacks: Yay! Congrats!
It's our dating anniversary. I bet we will go out for a nice dinner (probably a local organic/farm-to-table place, similar to what @Mrs. Lemon-Lime: had mentioned) We'd better start working on those reservations, though!

LO's daycare has "date night" from 4-9pm, so hopefully we can figure out something fun to do!

No plans...dh is gone away to Australia for work so it's just C and I. Maybe I'll make her a heart shaped pizza for supper

I love valentines day! I don't love that a lot of restaurants jack up their menu prices, though, so what we've started doing is going out for a nice meal the night before (this year it's Friday the 13th haha) and then staying in and cooking something special together on actual valentines day. We're planning steaks with homemade Bearnaise sauce, twice-baked potatoes (my H's fave!) and some kind of veggie. And all the wine

Our plans are super romantic LOL. Our hospital only does tours of the maternity wing on Wednesdays at 6pm (which is NOT convenient for us, as we have no family in the area and daycare closes at 6pm and kids aren't allowed on the hospital tours...) and one Saturday a month. February's monthly Saturday tour is 7:30pm on Valentines Day.
We'll be doing that and maybe grabbing dinner after

@Mrs. Jacks: yes! Yes it is!! Congrats!
@MrsSCB: mm yes, ALL THE WINE lol!
