@plantains and I are thinking about doing a little meet up since we're pretty close to each other. Wondering if any other Queens bees would like to join us.
This would be open to any NYC bees who are willing to travel to Queens

@bunnylove08: Nope! I don't know Queens that well, but if it's accessible via the subway and not too far I'm in

Ladies, I would definitely join, however we just started TTC so no babies/Children. Not sure if that matters and if it does no hard feelings

@cmbknyc: no worries, i have no children either, aside from the one in my belly she's not really capable of playing with others yet, so i'd be in the childless group, haha.
I'd be in if it's not too far from manhattan!

I'm in Westchester but would be interested in trying to meet up too!

@cmbknyc: its a get together, children are optional we would love to have you!
@hilsy85: woo hoo!
@Pirouette: we'll make sure its close for you
@fancyfunction: hope you can make it!

Ooooh, there is interest! we could make it in Manhattan to make it easier for a lot of people to attend, but honestly I don't know about finding a kid friendly location to accomodate a large group in the city. That sounds mildly stressful.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to the sort of location we would prefer? I have never been to a meetup!!! All I know is it has to be a place with AC:)

@bunnylove08: I live in midtown with no car, but i'm near virtually every subway line!
grapefruit / 4671 posts
@Pirouette: midtown makes it easy right? You could get the 7 train, would be quick and easy.

@plantains: yup! i can get pretty much anywhere. and i second your suggestion on a place with A/C (though i don't have any suggestions at the moment!)
grapefruit / 4671 posts
@bunnylove08: I can think of a few places yes, but i might alter my suggestion depending on the time of day/type of place we want.
Do we want restaurant or coffee shop?
There are a lot of options depending on what we want.
grapefruit / 4671 posts
If there is a preference on the type of place, I will make a few suggestions and then when we decide I can pop in and see about getting us a table.

I would love to meet up. Queens can be far on the subway from Brooklyn though, and I hate taking the G.

@BKCaribBaby: tell me about it! i use to take the train from Bay Ridge to queens to visit friends and family.
If we actually meet in LIC the G would be the quickest way to come to the meet up *hint hint nudge nudge*

@plantains: anywhere we can have screaming babies, DD found her voice and she is likes to speak very loudly lol

@plantains: @bunnylove08: I think it's so funny that some NYers think it's such a big adventure to travel between boroughs!
Anyhoo, my bro lives in Queens and I'll be there Labor Day weekend. So depending on our schedule and when the meet up is I might be in!

@regberadaisy: its a trek! i use to hate leaving my borough. i would ask friends if they're in another borough to meet in the city because its equally a pain to get to for all of us LOL
I hope i get to meet you!

@bunnylove08: it's not that bad! I lived in Queens, went to HS in Brooklyn (Fort Greene) area, my BFF lived in 8th ave, Brooklyn. My mom worked in Chinatown. I went back and forth all the time! I guess I'm just used to it. But with a baby a hour train ride is a bigger deal!

@BKCaribBaby: @bunnylove08: The only thing about the G is that it's super crappy on the weekends lately! So we'll have to take that into account, too if we meet in LIC.
@regberadaisy: It's still a trek! Especially now with LO. Just traveling in the borough is crazy. I had to travel from my neighborhood (Kensington) to Bay Ridge and it took about an hour via train. If I had a car it would've taken me 15 minutes!

@mrsjazz: i hate that sometimes you have to go backwards to go forward especially if you're in bay ridge!

@bunnylove08: when are you gals thinking about? I did want to visit Brooklyn Bridge Park so I'll be willing to travel there?
@mrsjazz: I want to meet you!!!

I second Brooklyn Bridge park, but mainly because I live right there I'd be happy to travel to LIC if that's more convenient for ppl (as long as it's not too long of a trip for us).

hmm I'm pretty much free in August and I'm not sure if we're going to be spending Labor Day weekend in PA.
When is everyone else free?
squash / 13764 posts
We're here the last weekend in July, August 18th, and then possibly labor day...

Maybe we should add a poll? I would loveto do LIC because I live there:) But I love BK and have no problem taking LO there. If we do Brooklyn, Brooklyn Bridge Park woyuld be great. If we do LIC, Gantry Park would be great.
I do agree that the G can be trecherous on weekends although I think it gets a worse rep than it deserves so we should consider that.
I go to Fort Greene or Cobble Hill almost every weekend so I'm not bothered by whichever we choose. LO loves a good subway ride.

Please don't plan dates around me!
I am open to Brooklyn or LIC! My bro lives literally 10 minutes from LIC! I like the poll idea. But allow voting of both, maybe?

the poll has been added. Happy Voting! please tell me if I missed anything location or date

@regberadaisy: I want to meet you, too!
My schedule is wide open and I am open to LIC or BK or Manhattan if that becomes an option.
@plantains: I live on F/G lines and the G is awesome during rush hour. But I think there's work on the G train almost every weekend until September because of Hurricane Sandy damage.

@regberadaisy: I want to meet you too!
My schedule is pretty wide open too. Vote peeps so we can start working something out.
grapefruit / 4671 posts
@mrsjazz: I feel like the 7 train also often randomly has work done sometimes on weekends which could make it tough.
