My mom lost her digital camera and she currently takes pictures with her iPad....Ahhhhhhh!
I want to buy her a new camera for her birthday. Have you purchased a P&S camera recently? Which model? What are your favorite things about it?

@autumnlove: We have a Sony cyber shot and like it a lot! It has a smile detection feature so you can hold it up and as soon as the subject smiles it takes a pic. Great for babies and kids! We got it about a year ago...that may be a standard feature on other p&s cameras now.

We have a Nikon Coolpix that I love b/c it takes great pictures in dim lighting without a flash. And very clear pictures. It's a lot nicer than the Coolpix I bought back in college almost 10 yrs ago...

I have always liked my Sony point and shoot cameras, but I hear that Canon makes great ones too.

I have the Canons100 (or the 110?) and it is AMAZING. A great "pro compact"
