It was football until last year when my oldest wanted nothing more in life than to play. We bit the bullet and no one got hurt. ::knocks on wood::

I'm not going to sign him up for football, but if he begs to play peewee I'll probably let him. I'd really rather he not play it as he gets older though. I'm also not a huge fan of hockey - I don't like the fighting in professional. I feel like it's unsportsman-like conduct.
We plan to start him out in soccer and t-ball when he's old enough, and maybe swimming. He can stick with what he likes or try something new. Being active is important for lifelong health, so I hope he finds something he likes.

I would prefer lo not play contact sports but im not sure I'd stop her. I'm also not a huge fan on gymnastics past the little kid level.

I remember hearing that girls who play soccer and basketball have high rates of concussions. I have to do more research before I let DDs play.
I definitely would not let a future DS play football.

Only football. My husband and I have already discussed this and agree on this. (I'm more against it than him, but he is too) Way too dangerous. My plan is to encourage soccer and baseball when he is younger and hopefully he likes them or other sports so that he doesn't have an interest in trying football. We'll see how that works!
@shinymama: How old is your oldest? Will you keep allowing him to play as he gets older? That's my worry. That my son will want nothing more than to play football.

@Jenn23: He was 11 when he started playing in a divison with 10-12 year olds. He has played soccer, basketball, and baseball, but had been begging to play football for years before we caved.
Yes, he will continue to play. I still don't love it; I love what the experience did for him, but I think that's mostly due to his coach and the league we found.
