I will never be able to look at those light fixtures again the same!

How busy are the surroundings? And what kind of height clearance do you have?
Could you do something like this? (Wouldn't work in a very busy space) https://www.shadesoflight.com/products/clearly-modern-semi-flush-ceiling-light?sku=FM11017+++IR&product_id=FM11017IR&adpos=1o1&creative=72522552152&device=c&matchtype=&network=g&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIoKz56Zqq1wIV3LbACh2AogFzEAYYASABEgLy_PD_BwE

OMG, I will never un-see a boob now when I look at mine......
Semi flush mounts should work well.

They also make basically the same thing but without the nipple, which makes them a little less boob like. Only $20-$40, too.
When I moved into my house three of the bedrooms and the family had brass boobies. Ew! I replaced them with ceiling fans which wouldn't work for you but I wanted to commiserate!

Feiss makes a globe light similar to that but without the nipple part. Inexpensive and attractive. For hallways, I would think you want to keep it simple.
In bedrooms, we have done small flush mount drum type lights.

Not sure what your style is, but something like this would work too.

Oh nooo, I can't un-see that! Now my kitchen light will always be a boob to me
Kind of looks like something close to the ceiling would fit better than a bunch of pendant lights. I've found some nifty ones on lampsplus.com (especially Possini Euro Lilypad) and lightology.com (especially Clizia Mini Ceiling). Also some pretty basic, but pretty designs like Krius 3 Light Spot Spiral. The only problem with these in my experience is that replacement lamps are a little harder to find.

@Mamaof2: we have so many boob lights in my house. I can live with the bronze ones like you showed (I have them in the master closet and hallway) but the main upstairs landing has super brassy very pointy nippled boob lights. Blergh.
We also have really low ceilings- 7.5 feet. So anything higher than 6 inches would make a weirdly low fixture.
We are replacing the hall ones with a small linen durum type one, similar to this one from Lowe’s. And we are replacing the large boob light in the kitchen with the second one. Both are low profile enough to not be weird or low but nicer looking, I hope. But none have been installed yet so I can’t say for sure!

Hahha I love this thread. We are about to replace our kitchen light with the exact one @BadgerMom: posted, I was going to suggest that style too.
