I'm signing up my LO for swimming lessons this month. Any tips for going swimming? My LO is 10 months but doesn't crawl or walk yet.

Our swimming lessons were pretty easy. LO was a toddler when we did it, but everyone under 3 is in the same mommy (or daddy) and me class and the first class is just getting used to the water and blowing bubbles, then they move on to kicking, jumping in the water, putting your head under, floating, etc. If LO didn't like something, like floating, we just did something I already knew she liked like jumping in. They're so little it's more about them getting comfortable in the water.

We just started swim lessons last week, LO is 8 months. It's very relaxed--we basically walk around with them in the pool and you can either hold them to you or under their arms so their belly is in the water. The instructor leads us around in a circle and we put the babies up in the air nd then down into the water (not over their heads though). And she helps us help them float on their backs. Exactly like @artbee: said, it's more about getting them comfy in the wate.r

Make sure you give LO a good shower/rinse immediately. I made the mistake of leaving it until we got home and poor LOT totally had a big chlorine rash. Didn't hurt but I felt terrible!

My LO has been in swim class since 6mo. Basically just don't force them to do anything that they don't want to do or isn't age appropriate. I'm sure your LO will do great!

I figure I will rinse off my LO while I stand under the shower, but do when do I shower? Do you guys just rinse off at the pool and then shower at home?
My LO doesn't stand by herself yet so I don't know where I'd put her while I tried to wash myself off.

Stick with it for awhile. Even after swimming a few times, ds still freaks out sometimes when he first gets in. Yesterday he took like half an hour to really warm up and have fun, but then was totally excited, happy, kicking, everything.
Sometimes bringing a bath toy for lo to focus on when you first get in the water helps too! Linking rings float and can hook onto your suit, so we take those those a lot.
