So my poor 2yr old DD has a spiral fracture in her tibia and a slightly bowed fibia
I'm feeling pretty sad and guilty about it because I was making lunch in the kitchen at the time and I can only presume she fell from the sofa in the living room. Her leg is in a cast right now and I guess will be for the next few weeks (they are going to x Ray it again next week and reassess).
Honestly I can't believe how brave she has been! They had to give her morphine at the hospital and then keep her in the children's ward overnight and whilst the whole thing seemed so traumatic she just took it in her stride! She actually didn't want to leave the hospital yesterday because she loved the playroom there!
So whilst she's fine in herself I'm just wondering how we're going to manage for the next few weeks. Has anyone been through this with a young child and can give me any tips on entertaining her all day (we have DVDs, crafts, stickers, colouring, play doh, puzzles...anything else I can do?), getting out and about (it's getting cold here now so shorts won't really cut it outside...should I put her in loose fitting joggers over the cast?) and will she be ok in the pushchair and car seat for short periods? She's got an over the knee cast so can't bend her knee either.
Any advice gratefully received
I'm so, so sorry to read this. Poor little S.
