@AmeliaBedelia: Haha that is funny! Right now it sucks for me because the family I am nannying for actually have 5 kids! I only have 5 seats so we can never all go together...luckily one of them is 14 But I really need to figure something out by when my baby comes! It's funny because the Mazda 5 really doesn't look that big compared to all of the 3rd row seat suv's. I think it would be great, who cares if you don't have kids yet!

@AmeliaBedelia: Yes, I know indeed! It's frustrating for me right now because for my soon to be family of 3, why would I get anything more than a 5 seater? My husband is really big into modifying and after market car stuff too, so we wanted to do some changes to my car, but if I'm not going to be able to keep it.... It just plain sucks! This is my job now and I really need the room....Hmm...what to do, what to do!

I currently drive a Mazda 3. I drove a Mazda 5 home from DC as a rental car and I hated it! It was very big with not a lot of substance, yet it wasn't big inside. Definitely test drive to see if you like it.

I've thought about the Mazda 5 but I think we're leaning toward a Subaru Outback. I love the newest body style-less like a wagon, more like a small SUV.

I have a Saturn Astra...which they only imported for 1 year. I love my car; super practical, great on gas, and very fun to drive.

BUT, since we're expecting, I personally refuse to put my child in the back...even with a car seat. I was rear-ended a few years back, and I feel like there just isn't enough extra metal in the back of hatches vs other cars/SUVS/minivans. I was hurting and in some major pain for a long time after, so I cannot even fathom having my baby injured if some huge truck or van would rear-end me again.

I have the Mazda CX-7 and I love it! Its a hatchback and has tons of room back there. I know there will be enough room for our stroller and anything else I need to put back there. It only seats 5 but that is perfect for us right now since we are only on our first baby. The gas mileage is decent, I commute to work about 45 minutes each way and I have to fill up once a week.
