Anyone ever give out "sorry for my screaming kid" goodies to your seat neighbors on an airplane

Interesting reading everyone's perspectives! I feel like my take differs a little -- yeah, we've all had to sit next to that drunk/smelly/annoying passenger, but no one LIKES doing it, just like no one likes sitting next to a screaming child, understandable as it is. So if you feel like going through the work of putting together little goodie bags I think they would be much appreciated. I mean if we're going to compare, I would prefer a drunken seatmate who gave me snacks over one who didn't That being said, I don't think it's a requirement or anything!

@ree723: Oh I hope our experience is like yours - i'm freaking out about it a little. I'm hoping she'll just eat, sleep and poop through it like you say fingers crossed!

@BeachMama: I totally understand your inclination and your nerves regarding this trip! I tend to be a people pleaser and having my baby disturb EVERYONE else goes against my nature.

When we flew with her at 13 months (7 hours/one plane switch) I was prepared with drink tickets but ended up not using them. Why?
    1) most people (99.9%) understand and are helpful and kind
    2) the cranky/mean people were not the type who would have been won over by my gesture. One person was rude about me nursing, but a drink can't fix ignorance!
    3) the baby did much better than expected- she loved all the new things/people to look at!

I worried for weeks and all the way to the gate on the way there but was able to semi enjoy our flight back because I knew it was not nearly as bad as I had imagined, even when she cried. Hope it goes equally great for you guys!

oh, and I second what everybody said about bringing the baby being a right as a paying passenger.

I would be weirded out if a fellow passenger preemptively gave me a "treat" to ward off ill will if her child melts down on the flight. I'd be much more receptive if, upon meltdown, she offered to buy me an alcoholic beverage.

We did -- some chocolate and earplugs to the few rows of seats around us. He ended up being fantastic -- barely a peep and super flirty with everyone. People were surprised and happy to help (especially on the leg where my nine-month-old son and I were traveling alone without DH). They ended up carrying my luggage for me!

Well we had our flight yesterday and she surprised us all by doing GREAT on the flight despite being way past her nap time. The bulkhead row worked out great bc when she got wiggly and didn't want to sit on my lap I let her stand/sit and play on the floor in front of us.

She occupied herself with opening and closing the window 500 times, with a couple new books I bought, and some stickers. She even took a bottle like a champ after not having one for 3 months.

Upon second thought about the treat bags, I do think its kinda setting yourself up by saying "my kids gonna be annoying". If she melts down on the flight I'd probably just offer to buy drinks for those around us.
