Do you know if it's better than having a 50 gallon water heater?

My parents do. It's awesome. Should we ever need to replace our hot water heater, we're definitely going with tankless!

Yes it's much more efficient than a standard water heater. However it is a lot more costly and it has to be next to a exterior wall because it has to duct to the exterior. Which also is more cost.

Yea they're awesome.
We don't have one but I did a bunch of research on them because I REALLY want to switch. They take up less space and they aren't constantly heating water. There's also no worrying about you having a shower and losing heat because so and so flushed the toilet downstairs. etc. Very eco-friendly as well.
I want one so bad.!!

My parents have a tankless, DH and I will install one when our tank goes. It's super awesome!

My IL's had a small one and it was great, however some fuse or something went bad and it was going to be a fortune to replace it (finding someone to do the work, not making the parts anymore, etc). They ended up installing a tank.

I want one! Except I would stay in the shower forever if I never ran out of hot water.

We have a tankless Baxi water heater and it's great. German made so it’s well-made; high efficiency and eco-friendly. We've never had any issue with getting lots of very hot water as soon as we need it. The only downside is that they are not very common where we live, so only a handful of people know how to repair them. I would highly recommend it.
