I look at d and he is just so tiny compared to all the other babies his age. People always think he is.way younger because of how small he is. He almost 6 months and only around 12 pounds. Hes not on the growth chart for weight (we're working on it but i think its genetics)
Anyone else have a tiny lo?

Yep. We weight 22lbs at 19 months. He's super short (I don't know his height).
People are always surprised when I tell them how old he is. Most of the time people say "omg I can't believe your baby is walking/talking!". I'm all like... kid's a toddler.
He still wears 9 month pants.
It's one thing I really worry about. I hope he gets DH's height, at least.

H is 16 months, 29" tall, and just hit 20 pounds. Most people think she's still under one because she is tiny compared to most kids her age.

@BandDmommy: do you remember how muxh he weighed at around 6 months? He looks around the same size as.my plder son in your pics so thats reassuring to see!! I wprry bc d startd off at a 7, 10 ounces so a good size when.je was.born and he just doesn't gain alot of weight regardless of what i do

@avivoca: haha I just bought him a couple pairs of 18 month pants because I seriously thought he was in 12 month pants right now (nope). Little man looks like such a gangster. Can't even use them yet. hahaha

My DD is tiny. At one year she was barely 18lbs, and 5" shorter than DS at the same age! She is under the 10% curve for both weight and height. She is hitting all her milestones though and has more words at 14 months than DD had at the same age.

dd is really small! she was 5 lbs 13 oz when she was born at 37 weeks and in the 3rd percentile (but around 50th for height...), and was falling off the growth curve around 2 months
we started supplementing then, and now she's 10 months and around 25th percentile at just over 17 lbs. at 6 months she was just over 15 lbs

Mine is a little peanut. She was 6 lbs 6 at birth, 12 at 6 and 20 at 19 months. The hardest thing to find is shoes - her feet are still size 3 or 4, and it's hard to find shoes for walkers at that size and it's impossible to find snowboots.

@Rockies11: Shoes are the worst! L is in size 4 right now and it has been impossible to find shoes for walkers.
Boots was a nightmare too and we ended up getting Boggs.

My toddler is small (just 24 lbs. at 31 months). She’s under 20% for height and 3% for weight and wears 18-24M clothes.
She was a good sized baby, but just keeps thinning out and getting smaller. I’m not really worried about it because she eats well (and a lot!) and hits all her milestones and is a happy and healthy little peanut. I was also off the growth chart until I was around 4 or 5, so it’s not that concerning to me she’s so low on the chart. Our pedi also isn’t “concerned” per se, but he is having her come in every 3 months for weight checks to make sure she doesn’t drop off her curve.

C is tiny too! People seemed so shocked when she starts talking and walking/running, I'm like well yeah she's 18 months old!!!
She *might* be over 20lbs now, but I don't have a working scale at home, and she wasn't at her last appt.
She was 17lbs on her 1st birthday. We're in 12-18 months bottoms and 12 month tops because she does have longish legs. -
My 16 month old is pretty small. She was around average in weight for a long time but that has gradually gone down to around 20%. She went from about 25% height at birth to now something like 3%. DH and I are both super short though, so it's not surprising that she is little.

My daughter was born at 8 lbs 10 oz....and she did not double her birth weight until after she turned 1. It was the first thing pointed out to us was how tiny she was/skinny/ect. , it took a lot to not get bothered by it. I finally just always responded with "she's small but mighty!" She had severe reflux issues so keeping food down was a struggle for us. We got SO excited when she finally hit the charts at 9 months (5% for weight) but now I'm happy to say at 2 1/2 she's over 50% for weight, something her pediatrician laughs at, we never thought we would be in a "normal" range.

@stargal: Our doctor was concerned about find the cause of the vomiting. She hit all her other milestones early and it wasn't causing her to fall behind, so she wasn't concerned so much about the lack of weight gain, she knew we were trying. We focused on the medical issues behind it, not so much that she was small/struggling to gain weight.
We did introduce solids at 4 months trying to get her to gain weight, anything to pack on the pounds.

My lo was born small (5 weeks early, so a good size considering) and grew really quickly. He was 19 lbs at his 9 month appointment. Once he started walking/running at 10 months he settled into a new curve, around the 3%. At 23 months he weighs 23lbs. He is staying on his curve for weight and is growing taller and meeting milestones, so his pediatrician has never been concerned....he is just low on the charts. Someone has to be, or there wouldn't be percentiles!

My LO is 20lbs at 16 months and pretty short (though I never really measure this...just know she's almost a head smaller than other kids her age!). She's still wearing a lot of 6-9 and 9-12 month clothing. People always comment on how well she is walking etc. and we used to get a lot of weird looks when she was 6+ months and we were giving her solids etc. because she was just so small!

Yes, my daughter is still quite small. Although if she follows her percentiles she'll be larger than me. But she's quite verbal for a three year old, so I get a lot of wide eyes and "how old is she???" questions.

My 2 year old (and 3 months) is about 21 pounds and very short/small. I get lots of "he's so cute!" comments, because he looks like a 2 year-old, but is the size of a 16-18 month old. In fact, we just outgrew 12 months, but 18 month pants are still too big. He's a peanut like his Mama!

@stargal: LO is 8 months and was just under 12lbs at her 6-month appt. I'm not worried, she's growing steadily and DH and I are both small frames. We ALWAYS get "she's so tiny" comments!

E was 5lb 13oz when she was born. She gained rapidly in the first few weeks and then remained steady on the 25th percentile. At 18.5 months, she is 23lb....... but she is actually pretty tall for her age; she's just skinny! She needs 18-24 month trousers for length but they are huge on her around the middle. We actually have some 6-9 month demin shorts and a few skirts in 6-9 that fit her perfectly right now!

My son has always been a 1%er. He's currently 22lbs at 2 years. We supplement his milk with whole milk powder and add lots of fats to his foods. He is slowly, slowly catching up...
He could probably wear 6 month shorts this summer if I wanted, but he's in 12-18 skinny jeans.

Another tiny toddler here - H was 5 lbs 11 oz at birth and is about 26 lbs at 31 months. She's done everything on time and is a smart little cookie. She's always been right below/at the 5th petcentile.
At 6 months the doctor was asking us to supplement her with high calorie formula (she was EBF then), and we tried but that didn't change everything. Eventually the ped agreed she was just a tiny girl and let the subject go as long as she stayed on her curve.She was always several sizes behind in clothes - today she's wearing 12-18 month jeans, and she can wear her baby sisters dresses as tops in a pinch.
Incidentally, my second baby was born about the same size but is almost 50th petcentile - she seems huge to me!

DS 1 was born at 5 lb 5 oz and 17.5 inches....at age 2.5 he was 25 lbs and 34.25 inches. Still a peanut, but totally is genetics (DS and I are both small). I think at 6 months he was probably around 13 lbs? I can't remember. He was small. At 12 months he was 18 lbs, I do remember that.
DS 2 was born at 5 lb 6 oz and 19 inches. At 8w he is 9 lbs and 22.25 inches....which is large in my world but probably tiny to everyone else. Not concerned at all.

My oldest is just a slip of a girl. <2%ile for height and weight. She's about to crack 30 lbs soon at 3 months shy of 5 years old. We're not worried. It's definitely genetics in our case!

@.twist.: @Rockies11: Have you guys tried See Kai Run? They have small shoes for walkers. H has a few pairs because I couldn't find small walkers in store.

My DD was just under 13 lbs at her 6 month check up. Now she is 20 mos and about 20 lbs. She has always been in the low percentiles for weight or off the charts, but I was, too. I chalk it up to genetics and makes sure she eats lots of full fat yogurt and plenty of protein.
Eta: she was 7 lbs 8.5 oz at birth!
we started supplementing then, and now she's 10 months and around 25th percentile at just over 17 lbs.
