And if so do you like it? I am looking for a high yield savings account to pay DD's cheques into while I decide on longer term investment options for her.
Also, I have HSBC online savings but the APY has just been lowered into non-existence so I'm planning to jump ship. Any suggestions would be great.

No, we just opened up a Ally Bank account. I think they are at 0.9% and was the highest one we could find.

I had/have ING (now Capital One) but am switching to CIT Bank. DH works there but looks like interest rates are on par with Ally.

I don’t; I have a high yield savings account (.85%, lol “high yield”) with Sallie Mae. The reason I went with Sallie Mae is because when you enroll in their UPromise plan (which is 100% free) and make eligible purchases, your cash-back goes directly into your savings account. It’s not tons of money, but a little bit of free-money on purchases I would already be making never hurts. And they do some sort of match at the end of the year, for additional free money.

@plantains: I think I probably got the same email from HSBC as you did today and had the exact same thought about jumping ship. My DH has a savings account with Discover and likes it a lot. I think AmEx is as good as any out there. I'm really happy with their service for other products. I will probably check it out myself, so thanks!

@Bao: @LindsayInNYC: Now that Capital One bought out ING Direct, have you noticed any difference in the level of service? I'm a bit wary of Cap 1 after a previous bad experience.

@plantains - I haven't noticed anything but I also haven't needed customer service really. CIT had awesome customer service when I needed it though!

I have an American Express Savings Account but honestly can't tell you much about it. DH did all the research and transferred our money into the account. He hasn't had any complaints.
