DH wants to buy one. I'm not sure if he's being crazy or practical. Any opinions?

My brother used to have one.. he had a small yard, so it seemed practical. But it was just really silly looking and made the strangest noises!

We have had 2, both we got off Craigslist. The first one we loved. It had to be plugged in with an extension cord but was a great mower until we ran over something in the backyard that completely damaged the blade and area around the blade.
Then we got a second one that has a rechargeable battery which dies so quickly DH can barely get any of the yard done.
We are looking into getting a brand new one but haven't decided on a gas one or a plug in kind like our first.

Someone cuts our grass, but if we ever decide to start doing it again, we'll buy an electric. We've heard lots of good things & storing gas at home scares me!

We've always had an electric mower with a cord/plug. Our yard isn't too big and it works fine for us, although sometimes the cord gets a little annoying.

My parents had one, and I used it often in my teenage years. I loved that it was easy to maneuver and lightweight. It made hills more manageable. The cord does get in the way, but you get used to it.

We have an electric with a rechargeable battery. The only downside is that we have to remember to plug it in the day before we use it.

We had one...it was kind of funny to watch DH mow the grass (he would throw the cord over his shoulder like he was vacuuming).
He ended up mowing over the cord.

I grew up with them and personally I feel more comfortable using them than the gas. That being said, we actually bought one for our current house, but quickly found that the yard was too big and it wasn't powerful enough. We used it about 3 times before selling it and getting a gas mower.

Given that I have no responsibilities in mowing the lawn, I let my husband get whatever mower he preferred. He went with gas.... less hassle than working around a cord.

We use one. They work well and the cord isn't a big deal. Only downside is they definitely do not last as long as gas mowers do in our experience. We've already gone through 2 in 6 years.

My husband is dying to get a robotic machine, like the roomba, but for grass. I just can't see that being effective and we don't have a huge lot.
I have seen the ones with cord and they kind of crack me up, I don't know why.

We have one. We have a relatively small yard. It's cordless. I LOVE it!!! It's no louder than a box fan so you can listen to music while you mow.

I've had a good one, and a bad one. Nothing more frustrating than a bad one! We just replaced it last summer with a beefy gas one, such an upgrade! I did love the good one though and would probably take that one back in a heartbeat!

We have one, I've never used it but DH is happy with it. We have a smallish yard.
