I've never been but everyone i know that goes cannot shut up about sundae school
Also bring warm stuff to wear on the beach (like a sweatshirt). My parents were cold on the beach this time last year.

@septca: East Falmouth
@hotchildinthecity: is that a restaurant? Ice cream shop?
Good to know about the sweatshirts!

So jealous... My dream vacation, I think I'm gonna start planning for next year or year after!

@Mamaof2: ice cream!! And i'm not entirely sure if you can get in the water...it might be too cold. My fear of the water being too cold to get in is what has kept me from going to cape cod for my whole life lol

I used to go to Sundae School every year as a kid when we vacationed there, but haven't been in ages. We never made it to Race Point beach in Provincetown but it was recommended by many people. We enjoyed walking through Chatham, but it is a little "touristy" as far as the Cape goes. We also loved spending time on the national seashore. We must have seen close to a dozen sea lions swimming right close to the shore
@bpcmarj should be able to give you lots of good recs!!
Have fun, it's really a magical place

@Mamaof2: yay fun trip!! I love Falmouth! We are also going in two weeks - but to Brewster.
Def check out Woods Hole - very cute! We stayed near there a couple years ago.... Let me check my work computer too to see if I have any other recs!
And yeah, agreed about the weather. You never know, could be 80 could be 50! But more than likely chilly, esp at night.

We always used to vacation in Falmouth! I recommend Sundae School for ice cream as well, yum! We used to go to the Clam Shack in Falmouth a lot because it was in walking distance from where we stayed. Definitely just a quick, seafood place, but the food was always good.
Woods Hole is fun. Also, if you have time, taking the high speed ferry to Nantucket is definitely worth it!

@Mamaof2: @bpcmarj lives there and my parents have a house in North Truro. Meet up?
It's beautiful! Lots of things to see & do. Hopefully it'll warm up in a couple weeks, it's been pretty cold. I'd suggest visiting Provincetown & Wellfeet. And Truro Vineyards, of course!

@Mamaof2: I don't have any Falmouth recs because I have never been there. My husband grew up on the Cape, so we go back every summer (usually stay in Chatham, which I LOVE - so good for toddlers).
As far as activities, there is a very cool paved walking/bike path along the canal. I also like the boardwalk in Sandwich and Heritage Gardens (where DH and I almost got married!) - it's a beautiful place and there is a lot for kids. It's a requirement that you go to a Cape League game as well if the games have started by the time you are there. (We rent a place within walking distance of the ball park because that's my husband's favorite part of the Cape during the summer.)
For places to eat, I love the lobster sandwich (and ice cream) at 4 Seas in Centerville, and Seafood Sam's in Sandwich is a fun place to get casual seafood on the water (there are lots of boats to watch, which is fun for kids). If you get a "date night," Del Mar in Chatham is *delicious* - farm to table type menu. There isn't a lot of great food on the Cape, so this place is a must-go for us.
In terms of water and weather, the south-facing beaches (Nantucket Sound) are much warmer than the north-facing (bay) beaches or the east-facing (ocean) beaches. The water will likely still be pretty cold in June (actually, it's always fairly cold, but that's the Cape...), but kids don't seem to care. If you can find a good pond beach near you, that will be your best bet for warmer water and kid swimming.
I am getting so excited about our trip thinking of recs for you! I hope you have a GREAT time.

@Mamaof2: Other people have better advice than me, but just wanted to chime in that we got married in East Falmouth! We spend more time in Brewster though.
@rachiecakes: We should totally have a Cape meet up

We're heading to the Cape is week and I wanted to see of anyone has any other suggestions for things to do/see? We'll have our 15 month old with us and are staying in Eastham.
