Okay, I want to read it, but I'm scared to as I'm at work and hate crying ugly tears in front of my coworkers. I'll just have to bookmark it for later!

We are seriously considering foster care/adoption, and I'm scared to read this!

I read this. Such a heartbreaker.
My husband and I have worked for extensive periods with children in the foster-care system. He currently works with the system. He wants to adopt them all and while we do plan to adopt if we can ever afford a second, I don't know that it will be through the foster system or not. It is a winding path at best and at worst you can have your heart decimated by losing one back to bio family or end up with a kiddo who's needs exceed the foster parent's skills or abilities. And now we have LO's well being to think of, too.
It is horrible, like we are on a life raft that is already full but we can still see children drowning.
I feel like this when I work in education, too- there is a limit to what I can do, but I know everything I DON'T do is one more thing an at risk kid didn't get.

Ugh, this is heartbreaking.
We are definitely adopting. The plan is to try for one or two biological children while I'm still young-ish. Then adopt. And if our finances allow it, adopt older children as we get older and learn how to be a parent.

@lizzywiz: I am a social worker, and yes to everything you said. It kills me.

Read this last night. Such a good perspective to consider, and heartbreaking

I read this yesterday. It truly is heartbreaking. I used to be in Social Work and I just wanted to take everyone home with me, but you know you can't! It is a at times rewarding and at times devastating profession.

Ahhh I wasn't planning on crying this morning. Poor Stephen and poor millions of other kids around the world that feel unloved.

I didn't cry, but it is a haunting story. I kept thinking about it the whole day.

Very sad...
DH and I have had adoption on our hearts too. Once we are in a better place financially, we plan to save up for it. I get so excited thinking about it. We want to adopt older children, and probably a sibling group of two. It's a huge reason I don't want another biological child.
