Bubble Tea is my latest pregnancy craving....I finally found a place that had it today, and I gave in to my craving for Avocado Bubble Tea. It was delicious!
I fear that it is horrific nutrionally. The guy that made it said they used skim milk. But I suspect it's still pretty horrific.
Do you love Bubble Tea? What flavor?

I always get almond flavor, but I've cut it out recently because of the high calorie content.

And also red bean. It's hard to find a place that makes it with the real stuff and not powder! I don't like the tapioca tho and always ask for without!

yes! love it! get it once a week. i usually get milk tea or green milk tea. i figure the tea part makes it "nutritious". hehe but yah i don't want to know how bad it is for me.

Taro milk tea, Jasmine milk tea, avocado smoothie (the Viet version is definitely NOT healthy and not made with skim milk), almond milk tea... mmmm. Oh, and durian smoothie!

Same as boba tea? I drank so much of this stuff in Taiwan while I was there. I like the flavored green teas like passion fruit green tea and mango green tea with boba of course!

Plain black milk tea... I worked at a boba place (Lollicup) my senior year of college and it's still the best job I've ever had. Unlimited boba while working. And getting to make boba drinks for everyone. Best job ever.

@mrs. wagon: Is it awful for you? The one I had today was I think made with powder and it had the tapioca in it...Like I said, they guy said they used skim milk, but what else goes into it?

@jholler25: The milk tea was pre-made by my boss every day, we'd just scoop it out of the big vats in the fridge, so I don't know what's in it. Same with the taro milk tea and a few fresh fruit slushes. However, we did make the other drinks and they're usually made with either powder or syrup, liquid sugar, powdered non dairy creamer, and water or tea.
I don't think that a milk tea type boba drink is any worse for you than an iced coffee, especially if they make it with skim milk. You can also get it sugar free at most places, and if you are the type to carry around Splenda packets (heh, like me!) you can mix that in instead.
The boba, on the other hand.... I have NO idea how bad it is for you. I'm pretty sure they boil it with all kinds of sugar. But I drank unlimited boba drinks for an entire semester and I didn't get fat! (Then again, I was on my feet making drinks at the same time!)

I love bubble tea. I've never tried avocado, but honeydew is my fav flavor. There's a grea place in Davie called MH cafe. I don't know of anywhere else though. Is that the same lace @jholler25 ?

I love bubble tea!! My go to is milk tea. Summer time I like almond milk tea and peach jasmine tea. I always say easy on the ice so I get more tea because I feel like they jip you with all that ice! Plus, like @mrs. wagon: said, the milk tea is usually pre-made and refrigerated so it's already cold. I also tell them half the bubbles, I like them, but they're empty calories.

@travelingbrit: Same place! It was good...I think they use powder though? I didn't see them cut up an avocado....Back home in Louisiana, there is an AWESOME authentic Asian cafe that makes the bubble teas and they cut up all the fruit fresh every day and have it displayed....That was the best bubble tea I've ever had but I didn't see anything fresh at M&H, unless I was just so caught up in getting my hands on the bubble tea that I didn't notice:)

I've never seen a bubble tea place that adds milk - maybe its just the area that we're in? My favorite is lychee or melon, but I can't STAND the actual 'bubbles' haha - they freak me out texture wise.

@jholler25: I know the honeydew is powder, but I'm surprised the avocado is too. I've ever been anywhere that uses fruit and I've had bubble tea in the us, Peru and the uk. I would imagine its 100 percent better!

I've only had them twice. Once was honeydew and the other was taro. I liked them both but hated the tapioca stuff at the bottom! We just got to Hawaii on Friday and I've seen boba tea everywhere!

Mmm, I would love just a plain tapioca milk tea right now... my fave! I live close to Chinatown so I could get them more often, but usually just once a month. I know it has a ton of sugar (and tastes best that way!)
