I'm thinking about just getting the phil and teds lobster seat. We have a dining room table and an island in the kitchen. Will I regret not getting a high chair?

We have the FP rainforest chair that attaches to our kitchen chair and love it. I am so glad we dont have a big high chair to deal with.

We have a fisher price booster, which has served us well for the past 2 years. No regrets.

We just got a chicco hook on chair- we have an island and no table so this way she can be at the counter with is. But we haven't used it yet- start solids next month.
You can always buy a chair later if you change your mind.

@yin: we just use the FP booster too! I always stubbed my toe on the bouncers, I know I'd be tripping over a high chair constantly...

Another vote for the FP booster! We started using it at 6 months and now that she's 14 months she uses it without the tray to sit at the table.

@brady80: I LOVE our Phil and Teds lobster chair! It is awesome and so compact.

Agree-FP Booster is the best $20 you can spend! It takes up no extra space, easy to clean, is super portable and is great for al fresco dining too! As infants, my kids would try to slip the straps off and wiggle out of others chairs too (based on news reports this week they aren't the only ones), but I love that the FP Booster tray is tight so they can't get out. And as mentioned above, it is great as a booster down the road. I did like the clip on too, but we stopped using it as I think having the booster encourages us to sit down together as a family at the table (as much as you can with little ones!).

We have the chair by Inglesina since we have a giant island that we eat at. My only issue with it is that DS will put his feet on the bottom part of the chair that clips onto the bottom of the island and uses it to stand up. Drives me crazy. However, I have absolutely no complaints about it otherwise and it's nice to bring with us if we visit my IL's.

We have and love the FP booster! I especially love that it adjusts with his size and that we can travel with it.

@brady80: I never wanted a huge high chair so we nevee got one. We used the prince lion heart bebepod flex chair for a while strapped to our dining room chair. Then went straight to a booster. Don't regret it one bit.
Just be careful because if your table has a deep lip most clamp on chairs aren't compatible.

I used a booster for DS and I still have it at my mom's house. I prefer it over bulky high chairs.

We have the Phil & Ted's lobster chair and the FP booster seat.
Love the FB booster seat. It's cheap, and soooo convenient.
I second @locavore_mama: because not all kitchen islands will allow you to clamp it on. It never worked on any of the granite counter tops my friends had and almost ripped apart my friend's laminate counter top!! We have a butcher block (removable) island which is probably why it works on ours.
If you want to go with just one, i recommend the FB booster.

We only have the Chico clip on and it works great!
Eta our table has a large lip and it fits fine.

@Freckles: our island is a butcher block, so hopefully it will work. I worry about the booster because the chairs at our island wouldn't support it because they are backless

I think it'd be fine... I still call that a high chair an so did my google search!

I wish we had just done the booster, but we have a bar-height table, and DH was convinced that the center of gravity for the chairs would be too high and let him tip (which now that he flails about in there, I totally understand...but ugh - the high chair takes up so much space!)

we have just the inglesina fast table chair (hook on chair), and it's been working out so far. It's a little more work to clean because it's fabric instead of all plastic, but I'm sure we'll get used to it.

We just got the Antilop high chair from Ikea. It was half price for a while during the fall. I figured $15 total wasn't bad for the chair & tray. It's just going to get messy anyway!
