Hmmmm...if my son wakes up in the middle of the night, we usually wait a good 10 or 15 minutes. He usually just goes back to sleep on his own because it's the middle of the night and he's so tired and sleepy. If he doesn't stop crying and I can hear his cries escalate, we just go in there and shush him back to sleep and then leave again right away. I think the key is to have her wake up in the morning and see that you're not there (and you weren't there all night) but everything is still fine! And when she wakes up, just make it a big deal, like "Good morning! You slept all by yourself! Good job!"
