Just for fun!
DS is only 9 weeks so obviously this is ridiculous but I have noticed a preference for using his left hand to grab things, etc.!
Did anyone suspect that their baby would be left handed? Were you correct?

I'm left handed and so is MIL so I feel like both sides of the family are always noticing when LO uses his left hand. It's too early to tell as he's only 20 months. He does use his left hand quite a bit, but I also see him using his right hand too.

DD had a preference for her left from very early on and at nearly 3 she is definitely a leftie.

Yeah we suspected it from the time she was about 1. She's almost 4 and is a lefty.

My 2.5 yo still uses both hands about equally. I am wondering if she will be ambidextrous.

I am and was hoping M would be but she started showing a right hand preference before 2.

Yes, she almost exclusively colors with her left hand and also uses that hand to eat with utensils.

I think DS is! I was too when I was young, but my grandma forced me to learn to use my right hand.

I did, but she fooled us! When she started using silverware it became clear that she is in fact a righty.

R seems to be. He's always had a slight preference for his left and now that he's doing more dexterity wise it seems like he is a lefty. He's 13.5m so that can easily change.

She used her left hand a decent bit when she was younger but she seems to be starting to use her right hand more now. But at 7.5 months, it is still way too early to tell!

My 3 year old is! It was clear by 2, but I suspected so from about 18 months. She even rides her scooter on her left foot.

My LO is 2.5 and I'm still not sure. She uses both pretty equally when coloring or holding a utensil. I thought for sure it would be more obvious by now!

My 23 month old is a lefty and we've been pretty sure about that since shortly before her first birthday, although we always had the thought in the back of our mind she could switch. She's always fed herself with her left hand, which was our first indicator (finger foods) and gradually we noticed her play was done more dominantly with her left, and now she colours and does all fine motor skills with her left. I'll be shocked if she ends up switching at some stage!

Yes, he uses his left hand to eat and throw. Occasionally, he'll use his right but prefers his left the majority of the time.

Ugh I'm going to sound like a Debbie downer, but if you *do* notice handedness early, talk to your pediatrician! Our LO had torticollis so was using his right hand way more early on.

DS (16 months) seems to be a lefty. He's been super into throwing balls since he was about 8-9 months and always used his left hand to do it. He also uses his left hand for eating/utensils. No one in either of our immediate families is left-handed so DH and I both find it very interesting!

I'm an teacher in early childhood ed, and find that a lot of people don't know that many toddlers are ambidextrous for a while. This sheds a little light on a timeline, if anyone is interested! http://www.babycenter.com/404_when-will-i-know-whether-my-child-is-a-righty-or-a-lefty_70388.bc

We suspected and feel even more confident as she grows...she used her left to eat and write mostly

My 3 y/o is a righty. My almost 2 year old shows strong left preference.

I suspect he's either left handed or ambidextrous. His EI therapist says they don't show preference this early but who knows! He seems to favor his left hand and being left handed and/or ambidextrous runs in DH's family.

@ChiCalGoBee: Thanks for the link!
I wonder if it is partly hereditary? The donor was a leftie!
