I am seriously considering the CHI one to save time on blow drying. Anyone tried these? Feel free to recommend a brand if you like yours.
I have to lightly blow dry y hair before flat ironing it and it's just time consuming. I imagine a wet/dry straightener will be equally damaging unfortunately but less time consuming:)
And I use John Frieda's heat protectant (again feel free to recommended a better one if you know of one!)

Hmmm I have the Chi but I haven't used it wet to dry. I never thought of doing that, would it damage your hair or anything? I usually wash my hair, sleep on it and then flatten it. I hate blow drying too!

@anonysquire: oh no no no its a different CHI than the normal flat iron. It's actually a flat iron that is called "wet-to-dry" and is meant to be used on wet hair.
But now I'm looking at all these YouTube videos of it and I see the steam coming from the girls hair and I am thinking that it's probably really damaging and I'm scared:/ -
Wow, never heard of a wet to dry iron! I have a regular Chi flat iron (which i love love love). The wet to dry sounds kinda damaging to the hair... but then again, maybe it just kinda steams it so it might not be too bad? I'm interested to hear if anyone has tried it! I have naturally wavy hair and I hate flat ironing it. Takes so much effort! Maybe this wet to dry one will work better?

I used one in college (not a chi brand, a much cheaper revlon brand). I never noticed that it caused significant damage to my hair, but I will say that it took much longer to flat iron it when it was wet vs when it was dry, so the time savings wasn't really that much.

I have a wet to dry that was reco'd on WB. Chi came up as well but others reco'd a cheaper one. I really like it! For the 3 times I use it in a year. hehe. I'll check tonight on the brand!

I had one a couple of years ago and I returned it after one use. It took way too long to get my hair dry and I just felt like I was damaging my hair while using it.

I used a cheaper version long time ago and it didn't make drying/flattening time any faster. I also had to replace the straightner every year since the plate coating would go bad.

I have an old Revlon one. I have thin hair and found that it dries/styles my hair faster than using a dryer.
A ton of steam does come from it, and it has burned me once or twice.
I do worry about damage, but have no definitive evidence of it damaging my hair.
I probably use it 4-5 times year. I don't think I'd ever use it on a regular basis nor recommend it to anyone. -
It seems like the consensus says it isn't much faster! And I'm going for fast with this baby coming:/ hmph. Thanks ladies! I think I'm a hockey and I'll stick with my blow dryer after all

@TurtleDoves: are you using a blow dryer that dries your hair fast? I don't use a wet to dry flat iron but am using a really nice blow dryer that dries my hair which is to my chest in 20 minutes!! (I like the T3 featherweight) & then use a straightener really quickly over top when I want it extra straight (the T3 straightener)
