I have loved this show since the start, but I'm so flipping annoyed with this last season, it is awful in my mind. I haven't watched last nights episoe (I'm still pissed with last week's awful episode.) I feel like they are ruining the series with this season, the no forward movement is awful & how it's not even ending where it all started: the apartment/McClarines, ect. Just dissapointed so far.

I'm having a love/hate relationship with this season. I know the season wouldn't let the relationship with the mother develop organically, so the flash forwards are really nice. I even like idea that Marshall and Lily aren't perfect. While I would appreciate the whole season not happening in "real time" it doesn't suck too much

@LuLu Mom: I agree. The concept of the whole season around 3 days for the wedding was cute, but I am not loving it. I used to love this show and now it is ok.
@Mamaof2: I hated that too. Felt like they brought it up to just create drama. Who do you think she went off in the car with?

I used to love this show but have barely watched this season. It has gone deeply downhill. I think they should have ended it a season ago on the crest.

@Smurfette: I think she called that girl from the train (Ted's future wife). She will change her mind, come back for the wedding, and that's how Ted will meet the mother.
That's my prediction!

@Smurfette: dh and I thought it was Ranjeet giving her a ride, or maybe her dad. But it's sort of lame, and anti-climatic: we know from various flash forwards that she'll be at the wedding the next day anyway, and that she and Marshall will be together in the long run/far future as well.
Some of this season has been good I've thought (like, I really liked the episode where Barney meets the mother because it shows the back story for how Barney realized how much he loved Robin), but most of it just seems like filling space because there isn't much story left to tell. I hated the parts with Marshall on the road trip--so annoying, I just wanted him to get to Long Island already!

@Smurfette: Gosh _ I have no clue!!
@rahlyrah: oohhh. maybe!!!
@nana87: ugh I hated the road trip too!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@rahlyrah: It can't be the Mother, cause we saw her earlier in a van. And then she takes the train home from the wedding, which is how Ted and her meet. I think @nana87: is right, it is Ranjeet. Makes sense the windows were tented.

@Smurfette: @nana87: @rahlyrah: have better thoughts than me. I totally thought it was the Captain, but now I bet it is Ted's wife. That's a very likely explanation.
I love HIMYM, but this season isn't the best. I do love seeing the flashes forward so you see more of Ted and his wife's interactions, but I feel like a lot of episodes are just filler. Like @LuLu Mom:, I was peeved about that one. It was just a total waste of time.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Mrs. Blue: I thought maybe it was the Captain but then I thought why would he be so close to pick her up that fast.

I love this show, but I am two episodes behind and I'm really really dreading watching them. I heard about the yellowface on one of the two episodes and I really really don't want to watch it...!! I'm so afraid it will ruin all the great episodes I've enjoyed over the years. Sigh.

@Mrs. Blue: I like the flash forwards too. I think it's just my pregnancy hormones, but last night when they flashed forward to the wife going into labor and Ted said "nothing good ever happens after 2am, except you" about the baby, I totally got choked up! haha

I love this show and have for years, but I wasn't expecting this season to be great. And so far it's proving not to be, but I am really enjoying the wrapping up of loose ends. I actually don't mind the whole season taking place over 3 days, but I do wish it were still as funny as it used to be. I'll be happy if everything wraps up well in the end, regardless.

Ugh, this season is driving me crazy. I'm kind of glad the show is finally ENDING! I do like the flash forwards, since they aren't letting us really see Ted and the Mother's relationship, so I'm glad we get to see glimpses of it. And I HATE what's going on with Marshall and Lily. And really - would she REALLY leave without Marvin?? I mean, I know that she knows Marshall will take care of him, but really???? I find that hard to believe. Though maybe she knows she's just leaving for a few hours and will be back and didn't want to wake him??

I didn't see last night's episode but I haaaate this last season. I find it so tedious being set in the same 3-4 days.

@LuLu Mom: I agree, I loved HIMYM for a long time but this season is SO BAD. Last weeks episode was the very worst though. None of it was funny and none of it made sense. I would have rather they not even aired that one because it set a tone that the writers really don't care.

I really disliked last week's. It was just bad. Lowest point for the series, I think.
But I liked last night's episode. I thought it was one of the better ones of the season (but that's not really saying much).
*Spoilers*
I thought the fight between Marshall and Lily was very real-world. I was angry that Marshall took the judgeship without consulting Lily first. I feel like if he had AT LEAST called her first (surely whoever was offering the appointment could have waited 24 hours for an answer so he could talk to his wife?) that she wouldn't have reacted as badly as she did. I would be pissed, too.
And though I thought her saying that she had never been that selfish was opening a can of worms, even though I'm torn about the SF thing. She did run off, yes, but she had wanted to do long-distance and Marshall said no, all or nothing. Which I get, because it was a few months before their wedding? But I thought it was horribly mean of him to throw that in her face.
I guess that's one of the things relationships boil down to, though....knowing that your SO has the ability to cut the deepest, to be the most hurtful to you, and trusting them not to do it. I don't blame Lily for leaving, but then I know she'll be back (as we saw in the flash-forwards of her at the wedding and of her and Marshall in the future). I was thinking it was either Ranjit or the Captain that picked her up.
Side note: I love the Mother. I want her to be my BFF. 8 years of build-up to her and I'm not disappointed.

@Mrs. Blue: No but I guess it seemed fast since they were still showing what was going on with Ted, Robin, and Barney.

@mrs. wagon: Skip the episode from two weeks ago. It LITERALLY adds nothing and is not worth your time. Just watch this week's episode.
GOLD / wonderful pea / 17697 posts
@mrs. wagon: I agree with @Mrs. Blue: you can definitely skip that episode. Marshall slaps Barney.

@Mrs. Blue: @lovehoneybee: haha. Thanks for the full recap of the episode "Marshall slaps Barney"... sounds like that's ALL that happened. :T

This weeks episode was the best all season. Funny, intense, and had some fun future clips. DH and I are so invested that it's the ONLY reason we are finishing the series. Loved hearing the kids names last night!

Love this show too, and I'm hit or miss on seeing the episodes for this season, and am not the most pleased with it. I really wish it's been a little more exciting.

@bpcmarj: I missed the girl's name! What was it? I caught Lucas for the boy.

I haven't fully processed this episode yet, but I loved it. I teared up but also laughed a lot.

Ok, I'm going to get Debbie Downer here for a second (also I haven't watched this week's episode yet because DH isn't home yet and we always watch together ) but I have a bad feeling that at the end of the series we find out that the mom is dead. SO morbid, I know
! I hope it's not true, but there were some things during the finale last season that made me think so and the fact that they never talk about the mother in any of the FAR future stories - like when they're all old (even though there haven't been very many). DH hates when I bring it up so I hesitate to say it here but wondering if anyone else has gotten that vibe?
GOLD / wonderful pea / 17697 posts
@fussygal: I've thought that off and on too. The only reason I think overall not is that the kids don't seem super interested? More like Ted was like "Here, sit down, I'm going to make you listen to this long story." I feel like if she was dead than they'd be more interested in hearing about it? That's what I'm telling myself anyway!
pomegranate / 3580 posts
@lovehoneybee: I hope so! I really like the actress that plays the mom and I wish we had at least a season where she was really regular!
pineapple / 12234 posts
Ahh...am I the only one who doesn't like who plays the mom? I just thought she would be so..."wow" but this girl seems so ordinary!
