Figured I'd ask here since there's a lot of y'all in NYC on here. We have tentative plans to go visit my sister next weekend, we've been to NYC lots of times but not with a baby.

@Maysprout: check to see if the San Gennaro Feast is on! They come twice a year and in September is the biggest one if I remember correctly.
oops, it ends this weekend. http://www.sangennaro.org/

You could go to the zoo in central park or to a local playground for a few hours

@regberadaisy: So it won't be going on? It sounds fun.
@Modern Daisy: That's the plan right now is to picnic in central park and go to the little zoo so she'll have some running around time.

@regberadaisy: I have to be honest-- San Gennaro is the LAST place I'd want to take a baby! I used to live right above it and it was so loud and crowded!
I second the Central Park Zoo. We took my 18 month old nephew there a few weeks ago and he loved it so, so much. I always liked it, because it's pretty small and just a lot of fun, but it was so much more fun seeing how much he enjoyed it. And there is a separate petting zoo right near it, your admission pays for both. 1 might be a little young to actually pet or feed, but I bet she will love watching the bigger kids do it.

We went with our 18 month old this summer. We lovedFao Schwarz, Central Park zoo, Herckscher playground within the park (water features), and Highline's clean puddles to splash in. If I think of anything else that is a must do, I'll check back in.

The zoo was crazy packed yesterday, so we just let her run around the park. I wish we had gotten to see Highline, we forgot about it until we were about to leave.
We did walk through San Gennaro because we were staying so close to it but it was a bit rowdy and crowded for baby.
We ate at Tacombi for dinner and it was really nice, they were really nice about us having baby and it was a good place for her to move around and the food was good.
I was pleasantly surprised with how nice New Yorkers were about baby, she was a huge hit, definately talked to a lot more random people than previous times we'd visited.

@Maysprout: Thanks for the update. I'll check out that restaurant if I ever get back again. Here is a pic Heckscher Playground in Central Park. I spelled it wrong. (Just in case you or another bee visits again.)
