I was at the supermarket and saw a person I immediately recognized but couldn't place...then realized he was one of my OBGYNs. It is so strange to see people out of context.

Nothing weird happened to me today, but while I was pregnant we ran into my OB at sushi... I thought I was going to get the death stare or something for being out to sushi, but he totally came over talked to us and told us it was the best place in town and he knew they were clean and he was totally comfortable with me having a small amount of sushi from there (I had already ordered though and it was all cooked food)!

One of my students came up to my desk today after finishing his Mother's Day project, and said, "So I was thinking, since you're a Mom, I'm going to give you a 30 second massage as a Mother's Day present," and then he walked behind me and started rubbing my shoulders!! It was a sweet gesture, but slightly awkward to have one of my fourth graders rubbing my back!! Lol. I thanked him after 5-10 seconds, so he'd get the hint that he could stop, and told him he should give his Mom the same gift on Sunday. Haha. Thankfully, he smiled and walked away.

I'm a psychologist and my boss sent me to a seminar today to learn about a new type of therapy. Well, I basically watched a super long video where the therapist gets a "breakthrough" in his client by "enraging" him in order to tap into his unconscious. Once that's done, the therapist had his client visualize that rage as an animal, that animal then proceeds to maul the therapist, and it turns out it's not the therapist that the client is killing, but his mother. uh, WEIRD. and definitely not for me. I did laugh a lot when telling DH about it later!

@bunnylovesbear: bahahaha, awkward! I have a camera in my library so I'd be worried about that showing up on video. It was a sweet thought though. Do any of your students slip and call you "mom?" I've gotten that plenty of times...and once I was called Mr. Male Teacher's Last Name.
@MrsStormy: I don't think my OBGYN recognized me without the big ole pregnant belly because I switched to the practice while pregnant. That's great that yours was so nice!
@Espion: haha, love the hawk picture. I can't imagine seeing my womanly doctor while at work.

Weird in a wonderful sorta way. My sister sent my mother and I both flowers for Mother's day. Of course my dad knew to expect them but I had no clue so in walks my husband with two FTD boxes. He didn't recognize the label but told me it was for my mom. So just being thorough I looked at the first box - for my mom - then surprise! Second box for me. My mom got irises and I got these brightly colored daisy-looking flowers. I know they aren't carnations but I'm not really sure what they are. They're really pretty though and I feel pretty special! I never get flowers

@swedishfish: I had a male OB, too. He was an awesome OB, but somehow it was MORE awkward to run into him fully clothed.

@Espion: I have a male OB! I love him though. But speaking of super weird, I go to a teaching hospital. At my latest OBGYN appointment my doc asks if it's okay if a student helps him and I say sure. Well student knocks, walks in and we have one of those, 'Wait, don't I know you?' moments. Turns out that he was also shadowing my pediatrician the last time I took the kids to the doctor two months ago.
So the guy who checked out both my kids then got to check out where both my kids came from! But it was so funny because he kept saying how they were such cute kids and telling my OB all about them!
@swedishfish: Yes, that's them! Thank you. I would have spent the next hour searching for them

My 2 year old made it the whole day w/o throwing a tantrum. It's been so long since I've witnessed that! haha
