I can't believe our LOs will be 1 in three months!!!!
Are you going to throw a birthday party for your LO? We want to have a party at our house but I haven't thought about the details or themes, etc.
I hope everyone is doing well!

Wow. Three months! That's crazy.
We will do something small at my in laws because they have the room for it. Maybe I should start planning! I will just choose a simple color scheme and make a few decorations. I want to make LO a hat or crown and to decorate his high chair tray. I have also been taking photos every two weeks so I want to print those out.
Unbelievable that I will have a one year old though!

Um I have been planning this almost since she was born
I just can't believe it is almost time to actually get down to the details! I am in shock my baby will be 1 and so soon!!!!!!! Time will fly now that Christmas has passed.

@AprilFool: nice, are you having the party at home?
nectarine / 2591 posts
@autumnlove: No, at a park. Our house just isn't great for having people around. Much easier to have it somewhere else and then I don't have to clean my house .
We are having a Onederland theme with a tea party. Super excited!
hostess / wonderful watermelon / 39513 posts
@AprilFool: Yeah, I'm afraid my house isn't cool enough for older kids!
A tea party sounds fun!

yep totally planning now that we're past christmas! i'm debating between a park (where we can't have beer, and that kind of sucks for the adults, so I'm leaning towards my house...eep) or my house, but renting like, a bounce house or something for the older kids (how much are those???). The appeal to a park was someplace where the toddlers could play. if i have everyone at my house, I HAVE to have entertainment so they don't go bonkers. early April can be cold or rainy here, too. Sigh. Decisions. I would have to rent tables and chairs for outside, too (although in the case of rain, we can do that in the basement)

@blackbird: Beer is a must for my DH. I'm thinking a bounce house too but I have no idea how much those cost!
What kind of food are you considering? DH wants to hire a taco truck or something like that!

I've thought about it a bit, but am not decided.... Our place isn't big enough for anything, and both our parents live a little too far away to be able to invite friends. Which leaves renting a space, which just feels like such an effort....
April is a tough party month because we can't go outside!
wonderful grape / 20453 posts
@autumnlove, holy crap a TACO TRUCK would be AMAZING! i hadn't even though about that. I kind of love that idea. I just figured I could do food myself! My mom will be in town so it wouldn't be terribly hard! But, really, it's just MORE WORK. I had considered just ordering food from the really awesome italian restaurant down the street, too. I threw DH a 30th bday party last april when LO was 3 weeks old and had burgers catered. it really does make it easy. lol i mentioned tacos to DH and he said we should do the korean-mexican fusion place by our house. Not sure if they do catering, but OMG YUM
Looks like i can get a bounce house for $175 in my city.
Realistically....it'll be MUCH easier to cater the party. i really need to remind myself to not do it ALL myself. I'll want to make the cake, for sure. So...i have to pick and choose.

I am super overwhelmed with this! I just can't decide on the size, first of all. How big are you all thinking?
wonderful grape / 20453 posts
@dagny, I think we'll be at about 2 dozen people with mostly family and a sprinkling of good friends

I def have a Pinterest board with themes....I can't believe it's gonna be here so soon.

@Dagny: Probably 50ish? I have 40 people going to my toddler's 2nd bday this weekend at a play gym....prob more at my house? I'm totally intimidated....I am not a party person!

@Silva: This is where living in Oz is a good thing. April is a great month to be outside.
@autumnlove: A taco truck!!! Omg... want For food I think I am going to have the party at 10 so we just have nibbles. . Cake is my fav thing so I want to do a dessert table and a crazy cake and make it the focus.
@Dagny: The invite list is about 45 but I am not sure everyone will come. I would say 30 - 35.
@blackbird: That doesn't seem unreasonable for a bounce house

@AprilFool: I kinda want a candy bar..sweets, etc!

Any fun theme ideas for boys? We already had a little man/mustache baby shower (and a dr Seuss one too).
nectarine / 2591 posts
@cmomma17: coolest showers ever!
Rainbow? Nautical? Cowboy? Pirate? I saw a lovely ombre blue party on pintrest. http://www.pinterest.com/pin/35043703323594463/

@AprilFool: Love the onederland theme!I so want to see pictures of the party when it's all done!
@cmomma17: I'm obsessed with little monsters and I think I'd go in this direction if I had a boy http://www.festivefinds.com/2013/07/little-monsters-first-birthday-party.html?m=1
We are having a You Are My Sunshine themed party at a local campground that we frequent. I'm so excited about the party and sad that this year has flown by so fast!

@MrsRoo: I will absolutely share photos. I am just hoping it comes out like the vision in my head!
The You Are My Sunshine theme is so sweet!

Thanks for all the cute ideas ladies! I love a good rainbow/colors theme but I feel like I should save that for when he's older. Although really we will most likely just be doing cake and presents with the grandparents so I don't need a theme. But I wanna!
nectarine / 2591 posts
@cmomma17: You could just keep it a simple theme then. A colour might work.
wonderful grape / 20453 posts
@cmomma17, we decided this weekend to just do a color theme! Aqua, pink, and silver glitter
hostess / wonderful watermelon / 39513 posts
@blackbird: Cool! I am leaning towards pink and gold!
nectarine / 2591 posts
@autumnlove: I love pink and gold! Especially gold glitter.
@blackbird: Aqua and green were going to be our colours but after finding some cool invites we are going to do a pink ombre theme and just leave the aqua out.
I also found the most awesome pink ombre tutu on etsy. Smash cake outfit done!
It's a big change from before she was born where I was like NO PINK!! but it's hot pink so it's ok right?
honeydew / 7811 posts
@blackbird: nice! I might do that too! I'm thinking green and I don't know what else. Green stuff will be in abundance after st pattys day (which is actually my birthday!)

Hi!! We have a theme and a day for the party but that's all. Nothing has been purchased.
I have my middle LO's birthday tomorrow and then I can focus on A's.
honeydew / 7811 posts
Zero progress here too! all I did was ask mil if we could do it at her house and she said of course! No ideas for day, time, food, presents, etc. Maybe I will get motivated in March.
When are all of our Lo's bdays? Mine is the 18th!
honeydew / 7811 posts
Any updates/progress? I'm really thinking about LO's birthday this week - because it's only 2 months away - eek!
I was going to do simple streamers and balloons to decorate at my in laws. But we discovered that LO is scared of balloons! Maybe he'll grow out of it?
Today FOOD is on my mind We will likely just do lunch and cake with all the grandparents, my sister and nephew. We are going to celebrate on Saturday the 19th, even though LO's bday is the 18th. A Saturday will make it easier for my sister and nephew to attend, but DH might not be able to take the whole day off. I'm thinking fruit skewers, mac n cheese, and hummus (LO's FAVE!), not sure what else!
