@lilyofthewest: Thank you!
There was some sort of miscommunication and they didn't order the detailed pathology before the tissue were disposed of. All they did was count the number of chromosomes. This showed triploidy, I think about half of triploid pregnancies are partial molar, but now that the tissue is gone we have no way to know...

@periwinklebee: Hmm. Did the provider who did your D&C have any concerns about molar-appearing tissue or did anyone have concerns during earlier ultrasound imaging? There's usually a very specific look to molar/partial molar pregnancies. I've been surprised a few times by path results that didn't match the normal clinical presentation, but, hopefully, even without the detailed path there's at least some information to go by.

@lilyofthewest: Thanks, I haven't had a chance to talk to the doctor who did the D&E since then, but I will try to make an appointment. I pushed the nurse today about it further and she said he really didn't think it was partial molar, so that's hopefully a good sign.
So, I did get ahold of the usual nurse, thank goodness, as she is really nice. The plan is to test again Wednesday. If it goes down, then we'll just need to see it go to and stay at zero and use contraception in the meantime (not sure for how long, ugh, not what I want now). If it hasn't gone down, then we'll need to do an ultrasound and go from there.

@CatchAFallingStar: Hey! My baby Quinn is almost 28 months! I had to do the math because I can't keep track anymore lol We're trying for #2 too. Good luck!

@periwinklebee: So glad you got the good nurse! I try to always be "the good nurse", and I'm irked when other people aren't. You deserve awesome care.

I tried to post twice earlier today, so hopefully this post won't get eaten.
My appointment went well. Basically, we can get a referral to the RE at anytime. I'm not sure I'm ready yet. I'm worried I won't be able to handle extra appointments over the next few weeks with work being so busy. LO has a ton of checkups at the end of the month and beginning of May and we also have a vacation with the ILs scheduled for June. So I'm thinking maybe we keep trying on our own a little bit longer and call for the referral if we don't have a positive before the end of June. But then I second guess myself and wonder if I will regret waiting. My OB wouldn't say one way or another what she would do in my place and she wasn't able to say how long a wait we would have getting in to see the RE, although she did think a referral from her would get me in faster. He's in the same practice, just a different location. Anyway, thanks for "listening", ladies.

@jhd: Have you done the baseline tests yet? They're typically a day 3 blood test to look at ovarian reserve and thyroid levels, a hysteroscopy of some kind to check out your uterus and make sure your tubes are open, and a semen analysis. The first and last are super easy and quick, and the hysteroscopy is pretty quick still (I found it super uncomfortable but was fine immediately after). My obgyn did the first 3 before referring me on...maybe you could start there? The blood test and hysteroscopy are cycle based so depending on where you are it could be a month anyway.

@jhd: I'm glad it went well! I would call the re and see how long it takes to get an appt. Make one a little out ... you can always cancel. As @skiierchck99: mentions the startup can take (seemingly) forever before you do any medicated cycles so you might be spending a few months just getting in and getting testing done. Just something to keep in mind, do what makes you feel comfortable!

@skiierchck99: my OB said she doesn't do any of the testing and that the RE would do it. my PCP discovered thyroid issues over a year ago now and they are keeping close tabs on my levels. i guess i maybe just need time to think about it. i was assuming she would do some baseline testing so i wasn't prepared to think about going to the RE already. but thanks for the info. it's probably not as involved as i'm thinking, at least in the beginning stages.

@bhbee: thanks, that really does help. will have a chat with DH and see what he thinks.

@jhd: glad the appointment went well! I think it took me a month to get an appointment with my RE so it can take some time if you decide to go that route

I just saw yet another super early pregnancy announcement on Facebook. Still jealous of people that announce without any fear of loss.

@jhd: I will say that my RE redid the hysteroscopy so it might have been better to just start there. I totally get wanting to wait too - half the reason I have been TTC for so long is I really wanted it to happen with as little intervention as possible, so I really committed to each step before increasing the intervention. tldr: I totally get it. Happy to talk through my (ongoing) treatments if you ever want!

@mrskansas: thanks, it helps to hear about others' experiences. maybe i will do like @bhbee: suggested and ask for an appointment a ways out if it does happen that they can get me in quickly and i don't feel ready.

@mrskansas: I'm sorry about the announcements. My facebook has been blowing up lately with brand new babies. And several announcements, at least one of which was an oops. My DH even commented how weird it is to think that some people don't even think about it and it happens!

@jhd: My experience seeing and RE was actually fast, I called and they could have seen me that week. The only reason I had to wait was b/c I wanted my husband with me for the first appt and his schedule was very inflexible at the time. Also if you primary care doctor is monitoring your thyroid levels make sure they are looking for normal for pregnancy rather then just normal. My RE liked to see the numbers way lower then published normal values since high TSH can cause miscarriage.

@jhd: I'm glad your appointment went well! I agree that you can always make the appointment with the RE and then take baby steps once you get There? I'm sure the RE would be understanding and go at your own pace.

@mrskansas: I hear ya. Since it took three tries to get my DS, I almost assume that I will have a loss (or two) before my next take home baby. I really hope I am wrong. Loss sucks.

@snarkybiochemist: thanks! thankfully my PCP is really careful and although my tsh was technically within normal limits last month she upped my dose because she wanted it lower for ttc.

@jhd: I'm glad it went well. I made my first re appt for two months out and would have cancelled if I got pregnant first. I was glad to have it...I was nervous about it but it was really straightforward. Thinking of you...

I have to say that Femara is 1000x better than Clomid. I only have one more day and I've had no symptoms. I was really worried about breaking out horribly like I did on Clomid but my skin is still clear (knock on wood!).
Now I just hope I ovulate around CD 14!

@mrskansas: Thanks for sharing your experience with Femara. I'm hoping that I'll have a similar one once I take it.

@madisonbee: Yeah it's nothing! I'm glad you are being offered it over Clomid.

@mrskansas: Same! Especially after reading about some bees' experience with Clomid's side effects.

@snarkybiochemist: I'm feeling hopeful!
@madisonbee: Clomid isn't horrible but now that I know how much better Femara is, I wouldn't take it again. I also paid less for Femara, so can't complain about that either.

@jhd: I think if your gut is to give it a little more time, then go ahead and wait. The last thing you need is to overwhelm yourself with other responsibilities while TTC.
pear / 1553 posts
@jhd: Oh and I also should mention that my RE had us try naturally, without medication, for four more cycles after my HSG, because that can stimulate robust ovulation in some women, increasing the chances of getting pregnant. So you could go in and get all the baseline testing, and THEN give it 3 or 4 more months until you feel like you're in a better headspace for fertility treatments.

@mrskansas: I saw one on the jumbo-tron at the Pirates/Braves game on Sunday. "Welcoming Baby SomethingOrOther November 2017!" I was like... okay wow... not only is it early, but it's very, very public.
grapefruit / 4455 posts
@dominobee: WOW. That is quite the announcement! I hope all goes well for those people! I could not... We had planned to just announce by 12w rather than keeping a secret with my son but then I ended up with bleeding by 5w, so as you can imagine that didn't happen...
pear / 1553 posts
@2littlepumpkins: knowing myself I'm pretty sure I'll have a hard time keeping it a secret. AF is due this weekend, and my parents are also in town. I might wait to POAS until Monday because if I get a BFP, I'm afraid I won't be able to keep it in while they're here.
grapefruit / 4455 posts
@dominobee: hehe yeah I can't keep a secret from my parents in person either! But I don't consider that announcing anyway.
pear / 1553 posts
@2littlepumpkins: I just want to try to wait to tell them until at least nearing the end of the first trimester... it would be their first grandchild and I don't want to get their hopes up. My mom is really anxious to be a grandma. If I MC I will tell them, but my mom is just like suuuuuper involved with her kids' lives and likes to be in control, and the last thing I need is her making my TTC/pregnancy her pet project, if that makes sense.
grapefruit / 4455 posts
@dominobee: aww I understand. That was part of why we hid it too. So much pressure with the first! Thankfully my parents are still very busy and don't need any pet projects. It's definitely doable to wait when you don't live right near them.
