April Showers; it's raining BFP's! April POAS thread

Hello all! I am brand new to HelloBee and am very excited! I tried both Wedding Bee TTC boards and Baby Center...so I know most of the lingo.

Cycle day // I am currently on CD 7.

Cycle # // This is my first cycle TTC. I just got off of BCP and I know that it can really mess with your system but I was only on it for 5 months, so I hope I don't have to wait too long for a BFP!

Ovulation & POAS dates // I am not sure when my O date is just yet but I am guessing I will POAS around April 25th.

    Baby # // 1

Your game plan this month // DH and I are using the SMEP...Well, he doesn't really know, but he will obviously be a part of it. I will start BD OED starting tomorrow and OPK on Thursday. Even if I get a BFN this month, I still think it will help me to know my cycle better. I am also taking prenatals and am weaning myself off a medication.

    Chart link // none!

@snowjewelz: Thanks for the welcome! I'm not sure if it will be harder with a LO around. I think it might be easier honestly.. my drive is way better now then it was before we have #1.. not sure why haha. Before I was always so tired with working, but now being off, I guess I just have more time and energy to do it. With #1 I was off BC for about a year? We didn't use protection, just pulled out.. sometimes. We started actively trying with charting and the works, it took 2 cycles of that.

@Adira: Yes, we are very excited to be really trying now for #2. I'm prepared to have wonky cycles, I hope it doesn't take too long to regulate! Seems like yours are levelling out now, that's good for you! I'm nursing but only 3 times a day. Around 7am, 2pm, and 7pm. She's STTN since she was a month old so I'm sort of surprised that it took this long for my cycle to start. Do you think it's best to start with OPKs right away? I guess it would be helpful to know when I ovulate to see if I start regulating?

@MrsMccarthy: Thank you! I hope this is a lucky month for you. I've seen a few of your posts, I noticed your son is having a hard time weening. Hopefully things settle down for him.

@simplyfelicity: Welcome! If you are nervous about ireggular cycles, I highly suggest using OPKs daily if possible. I got off BC in Jan; didn't do anything that month, and only temped in Feb and had no idea when I O or how long my cycle would be (it got longer & longer). So this past month, my cycle was the longest yet, but I was able to detect O w/ OPKs so I know when to really get the BD in! Good luck to you this month!

@snowjewelz: Thank you! I will be using OPKs starting CD 10. I have another question, how the heck do you log out of hello bee? I can't seem to find it...

@keepcalmcarrie: It was so hard for me not to test this morning. I haven't seen AF yet, but I think my boobs are less sore, so that doesn't make me super hopeful.

@simplyfelicity: It's not all the way up to and all the way to the right? It should say HELLO SIMPLYFELICITY (POSTS) / LOG OUT

@MrsB2012: It's up to you whether you start with OPKs or not. I just did temping the first cycle, but we were also NTNP that cycle. Temping was enough to let me know when I ovulated and how long my LP was. The next cycle I did temping and checking CM and CP because we were actually trying, but my temps were so wonky and my CM was supposedly fertile for the longest time that it wasn't until after AF showed up that I was able to figure out when I actually ovulated. Being in limbo like that was HORRIBLE. So this cycle I used OPKs and I LOVED it! But I had never used them before and they seemed to work really well for me, and I only had one surge and ovulated right after (confirmed by temping). I know some people see multiple positive OPKs with no ovulation, so they find OPKs frustrating!

I would suggest doing SOMETHING though (either OPKs or temping of some sort) so that you'll know when you ovulated. Then you'll be able to tell if your cycles are regulating and if your LP is long enough (I think nursing can cause your LP to be too short). Or hopefully you'll be one of the lucky ones to get knocked up first cycle!

Inspired Question - What other baby boards have people tried? Why do you prefer this one?

I was on What To Expect just because it was the first one I found when I got my BFP.

but I think it was too large to form real connections with people, and I feel like overall, HB users seem SO MUCH more educated!

It definitely seems like more of a community here

@MaryM: Eh after my BFP I downloaded the baby center & what to expect app and browsed through the communities there.. But since I was on here first I am 100% biased

So I am excited to say I got my first positive Wondfo OPK! I thought for certain they were a total scam... but turns out it was user error, seriously though, not sure why they are so tricky to use... but if you have a short LH surge it can be pretty easy to miss it. As I mentioned in other posts I was using CBE Advanced ovulation before and it matched right up with the Wondfo OPK's... so if by chance I don't conceive this cycle... I'm going to start using the cheapies now that I know how to test properly. BUT... I'm really feeling good/hopeful that I wont have to do this again... fingers and toes crossed.

Hubby and I BD last night (used instead softcup) and am going to do it again tonight hopefully. Oo..... I'm feeling so good about this!! Good luck everybody! This is going to be a great month I can feel it!

@KelLeeLeee: Thank you! I was on wedding bee for a long time but they reformatted everything and I can't do it anymore...so I am excited to be part of a functional, welcoming and "buzzing" community as WB has gotten very very quiet. Baby Center scared me once I saw someone post a picture of their cervical mucus. So...I found Hello Bee and really like it so far. It's also very pretty to look at.

@lilyofthewest: do u say whole month Bc u aren't sure when u ovulated? I'm 12/18 if I count by lmp but I'm pretty sure I ovulated on cd 19, not 14.

  32. lilyofthewest

    pear / 1697 posts

I feel pretty confident about when I ovulated (finally! I had better not be wrong!). I say "due month" because anywhere between 38 and 42 weeks is really equally on time/due. It is weird pet peeve of mine when people say they went "early" at 38w3d or "late" at 40w2d.

@MaryM: Once in a while, when I google stuff, I'll read other boards from other websites, but it seems like there are way too many people and there is a lot of negativity. I like you ladies he best!

  36. turquoisemama

    persimmon / 1481 posts

@snowjewelz: I think I want to change my POAS date to 4/3. AF is due 4/2, and I don't want to test unless I've missed it.

  37. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@MaryM: This is really the only board I've been on!

@Brawly: Yay for a positive OPK! And yes - I feel like it's probably so easy to miss the LH surge! I tested three times a day during this cycle to make sure I'd see it! Good luck to you!

So I know I'm not out until I'm out, but I'm feeling pretty negative about this working out. Even though our timing was pretty good, I feel like I have everything working against me (only 3rd cycle postpartum and body still regulating, didn't orgasm during BDs, only BD'd three times all cycle, having watery CM which last cycle meant AF was on the way, have experienced no implantation cramping, LP is probably going to be too short...).

    Ugh, the TWW sucks.

  38. snowjewelz

    wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts

@MrsHansen82: Gotcha! How are you feeling? I hope there's no sign of AF

  39. snowjewelz

    wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts

@Adira: Aww I'm sorry mama! FWIW, I rarely orgasm from BD. I also had no cramping until after TWW, till like 12-13 DPO. Don't let those things weigh you down! I read so many bees' stories where they get BFPs the cycle they least expect so you are def still in the running! I'm hoping AF doesn't come this weekend at least so you can get a longer LP!

  40. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@snowjewelz: Thanks hon! I think part of my problem is that I've had a BFP before so I'm expecting to have the same symptoms that I did last time and when I don't, I think I'm out! But hopefully I at least have a longer LP if nothing else!!
