I suck at pairing colors. We're throwing a outdoor summer pool birthday party for DD2. What color would you pair with aqua blue to make it a little more feminine?
I would love to do a coral/peach but I feel like with a soft color like Aqua blue you need a darker rich color to contrast. Do I need to go with like a hot pink??
Any examples?

My sister's wedding colors were aqua and red. It was really, really cool. They did red and white checkered tablecloths with yellow flowers as the centerpiece. You could do the same, and decorate with yellow flowers/daisies. Aqua and red buntings, aqua and red balloons, etc. I guess it's not necessarily "feminine" but super cute nonetheless!

For some reason the combo made me think of the Lilly for Target thread and her patterns. There are some really cute color combo ideas if you google "Lilly pulitzer print colors". I like the Aqua and coral but you could also add another accent color if you want!

@Rainbow Sprinkles: oh I love the richness of that color combo. I love how well mint goes with it too. I've been dying to do mint and coral but decided I wanted a whale theme hence the aqua blue. And the three flow really well! I mainly really want it to ooze summer. So the red can work really nicely with cherries and strawberries! Although late August is more Gerry season around here!

@regberadaisy: If coral is too pastel, maybe bump it up to bright orange! I think aqua and orange would be adorable for a beach party.

We did Aqua and red for my DD's first bday. My family likes to wear red for birthdays so it was fitting. Can't believe its already time to start planning!

I love tangerine and aqua paired together. Throw in a little rich egg yolk yellow and it's summertime fresh.

@regberadaisy: I love the aqua blue/ pink/coral/peach/gold look. It's so cute and feminine. I don't think you have to go with a dark colour if you don't want too.
