I know one that isn't the 1st son. I thought the kid was from a previous relationship at first, whoops!

Yes! My friend's husband is a junior and he has an older brother. His parents couldn't decide on a name they both liked for a second son, so they just named him after his dad!

My dad is a Junior and he's a second son. They had planned to name him a totally different name, but his grandma saw him when he was born and said he looked just like his dad as a newborn. So he became a Junior instead!

My dad is a Jr. but is the youngest of three boys! I think my grandparents ran out of boys' names they liked.

yep, I know one that's the youngest. guess they ran out of names and figured the last one would get dad's?
one of DH's friends asked him when we were out together if he was disappointed that I didn't want to name our (then unborn) son after him. DH didn't want a junior. we both thought it was an odd thing to ask!

If I met a Junior who wasn't the firstborn son, I'd assume he was from a previous relationship. I've just always seen them as the firstborn son! Our Junior will be.

That was actually the tradition in a family that I grew up with
