How would you spell the name pronounced "Ear-ah"
My husband and I both love the sound of this name but haven't landed on how it should be spelled. Eira seems to make sense, but baby name sites say that name is pronounced Ay-ra or Eye-ra.

I guess Eira, because itโs basically Keira without the K. Definitely not Ira.

@erinbaderin: yes that's what I've thought too, but any name sites say that's not how it's said so it's throwing me off.

I say spell how you like as no matter what, you're going to have to correct people. I don't say that to be a Debbie Downer, I promise. People have trouble with just about any name that they don't think is "normal".

Other ways could be Aera (like the ae in Caesar) or Aora (would be an Irish spelling... but it looks like Aorta :bummed:). People would pronounce them Ay-ra at first but ditto what @Mommy Finger said.

Spell it how you want.
I have a Gemma and a Cassius and I constantly have to correct people (on both!) Cassius I get because it can be Cassius like the ancient pronunciation or Cassius like Cassius Clay which is how we pronounce it. That I get but people also mispronounce our daughter's name and I just don't get it.All that to say you'll correct people regardless so pick what you like.

Eera is the only way you can spell it that is going to result in people pronouncing it correctly. Eira is going to be pronounced EYE-ra about 99% of the time. Eara is probably going to be ee-AH-ra most of the time.
