Most of my appointments are with my OB but some are with his Physician's Assistant if it is just a quick check in!
Do you always see your OB at your prenatal appointments?

I have to see every Dr in the whole practice at least once, so they can make sure that I am comfortable with whomever is on call when I go into labor. I think I get to pick between like 3 Drs on call at a time, but my dr may not be one of the 3. So I see an OB each time but it's been a while since I've seen my original OB.
It's actually kind of nice because one of the younger/hipper OBs scheduled my induction so we can make sure DH is home- she was SUPER understanding. And the 2 OBs I've seen since then were like, "So Dr X has scheduled you for induction...What have you done to deserve this celebrity treatment?" so I got the impression that they would not have allowed it! I like the benefit of seeing different ones-lol!

No each appointment rotates I would see the nurse practioner and then the OB the following appointment and so on.

I'm at a midwives practice, and yes, I always see one of my three midwives. There aren't nurses, just a receptionist, the midwives, and some birth assistants (midwives in training, I think).

I see a midwife. Sometimes they refer me to another lady that isn't "my midwife" because she's delivering someone!

Yes, but my OB recently hired a nurse practitioner to help with his workload and she has been joining him during all of our appointments recently. I expect she may start seeing patients on her own eventually...but I'm 36 weeks now so I doubt I will still be an OB patient at that point!

Yes, since I'm high-risk, I have to be seen by an OB. I've gotten the impression that otherwise, they would be fine with scheduling appointments for me with the NP. My doctor's office has about 9 OBs that you rotate through so you will have met whoever could deliver your baby when the time comes, depending who's on call.

I saw my OB at every appt. He doesn't have a nurse practitioner though.

My practice has 3 OBs. We rotate doctors each time so that you know all of them by the time you deliver.

The PA does most of the work, but my OB always pokes his head in at the end to go over any questions/concerns/test results etc.

Not in the beginning. I think my first 2-3 visits were with the NP until I hit 12 weeks. Then I've seen the OB every time since.

i only saw my OB. i don't even think his office has an NP. that's why i like going to him, because i won't be shuffled between doctors/PA's/NP's.

I only saw my OB both in Minnesota and when we moved to North Carolina with one exception when I had to reschedule an appointment last minute and she had nothing available. A different doctor delivered my LO (and he was awesome) but my OB was on call the next day so she came to see me and make sure I was ready to be discharged.

It is always a doctor. Rotate them all since you never know who is going to be on call when I go into labor.

It was a new office for us, so I didn't have a regular OB there. There are 2 OBs and 2 midwives in the practice and they rotate you through everybody because whoever is on call is who delivers. I see one of them every appt -- no nurses or anything.

I see an OB or a midwife at each appointment. They try to have us see all the doctors in the office since we don't know who will be on call.

I see my OB every appointment while I am pregnant. Even if it is last minute appointment, she makes sure that receptionist squeezes us in. I see her NP when I am not pregnant though.

Yep. He owns his own practice and is the only OB on staff!
Love him.

I usually see one of the two nurse practitioners. I've gotten plenty of face time with my OB, though, so I don't mind. I love everyone in the office.

I hardly ever saw my OB, maybe 5 times total? I always saw his assistant or some other nurse. he was always super busy, kinda irritating.

I go to a pretty large practice that consists of OBs and midwives. They encourage us to see every OB to make sure we get to know them all because any of them could be on call for delivery - so far I've seen 2 out of the 5. For appointments that are just check-ins or bloodwork, I meet with a midwife. Though I'm planning a medicated hospital birth, it's nice to speak with and get the perspective of midwives!
