I try not to get into anything heated

Same here... I try to stay out of those as well, or any thread that is getting heated. I make a few exceptions if I'm really interested in the topic. I do feel a bit "boring" sometimes, though!

Religion -- even just the faith posts because im not Particularly religious. Politics but sometimes I slip up and regret it.

I stay out of most religious and political posts. I'm not the least bit religious and I feel like I'm in a minority of that here. I also sway heavily in politics because I'm not particularly educated in it, therefore anything I say probably sounds pretty stupid! LOL.

If it's a really light hearted topic I may say something, but usually when it gets into a lot of details and heated, educated talk, I step away.

I try to avoid posts about mental health.

i am genuinely interested in others views and opinions on politics and religion and love to discuss those topics. But when these topics come up it does seem there are always a few that are unable to "discuss" and instead try to argue their point of view. that is when i try to back out.

I usually don't comment about religion or politics because I don't feel educated enough on the subjects!

Politics, infertility, mental health. Sometimes money and religion but depending on what the topic is about. I don't like getting into the heated discussions either.

I try to avoid getting into hot button topics but will give a basic statement depending on what it is. I also try to avoid giving advice on mental health/relationship topics for a strange reason I guess - I have a master's in couple & family therapy (just haven't taken the exam yet to become a LMFT) but feel like I shouldn't give advice from a therapist when I'm not someone's therapist! haha.

@mrs. wagon: Ditto! Though I will sometimes comment or make a statement on a thread, but post about money and religion definitely make me uncomfortable. Politics also, but a little more interesting to just see different p.o.v.'s, though I'd rarely engage. I also tend to stay away from somewhat antagonistic posts (i.e. adopting HIV babies). Honestly, I don't even want to open a post like that because it just seems so sad and a lose-lose situation. And sometimes I admit I don't even want to open a post that I know is sad and will make me sad.

I stay away from gross topics because I get grossed out really easily and usually am reading HB during lunch

Interesting that so many people avoid talking about mental health! I didn't realize that was a hot button topic for so many people. That's one of my favorite topics, since we are always working with my sister in my family. I like to learn and share information about our experiences, just in case it helps someone else.

I stay away from topics and threads that I 100% completely disagree with. It could be about anything under the sun but if I totally disagree with you or my initial gut reaction is to say, "You're an idiot", then yeah, I just won't even try to word something nicely. I'll just move on to a different thread.

Politics for sure. Especially on FB! I find myself getting way too heated, and it's not worth it!
