Theme parks. I am very resistant to Disney, sesame place, etc.

@hilsy85: Ditto. They're just not my thing.

ETA: Also, most children's TV shows. My LO has seen The Muppet Movie, and he is familiar with a few Sesame Street characters, but I don't like most other children's programming so we don't watch it. In general, we're planning to keep our viewing habits about as they are--basically no TV and more or less weekly movie nights.

Pets! I am allergic to all animals but grew up with pets from a young age... I would only consider a dog when my kids are much older, but even that I'm not sure if my body could handle it anymore with allergies... They can have fish though! And we have plenty of friends and family with pets they can visit.

Theme parks, especially vacations devoted to them. I might make an exception for a day trip but no way am I sacrificing precious vacation time to the Mouse.

I also hate camping but my husband loves it.

We just don't really watch TV in our house even though we pay for cable. It's not an issue right now, but I will be really resistant to any requests for a video game console when our son is older, too.

Circuses. I'm very opposed to them.

No camping. I have never been and it does not appeal to me at all.

No dogs. I love dogs, but we live in the city and I'm not bagging poop.

@hotchildinthecity: Oh! Yes! I watched that elephant documentary and was sooooo sad for them. People really are jerks I'm even torn about going to the zoo to be honest.

Camping – mama needs a real bed and a real hot shower every morning. I hated camping as a kid, too.

Circuses – just nope. Maybe ones that don’t use any animals at all, but never to the ones with animals.

Team sports – if LO gets into a sport on her own, of course I’ll park my butt on the sideline for every practice and game and cheer enthusiastically, but we won’t encourage or require sports participation. Neither I nor DH has any interest in any sport, didn’t as kids, don’t think they are as important as everyone else seems to think they are.

Chuck e cheese and anywhere with those big playspace things. I hate places with hundreds of kids running around like crazy.

- Tent camping. I could do cabin camping, but no tents.
- Chuck E. Cheese. Just, no.

@blackbird: I agree! No camping for us either.

We probably won't get a dog, DH says they are too much work and our yard is little.
And I probably won't cut their food into adorable shapes, too lazy.

-I actually like theme parks, but I have no interest in building a vacation around them. We will hold off on Disney for as long as possible.
-DH is not into camping, so I don’t know when we’d ever do that.
-Large pets like a dog or possibly cat. – DH is allergic and with small kids, I feel like I would be responsible. I don’t feel like I have the capacity to keep another living thing alive.
-Large elaborate birthday parties. I think celebrating is great but I don’t know how I feel about some of the large parties I see. Also for me growing up, just having a birthday party was a big deal.

I'm considering no sleepovers, but we'll see.

My parents had an endless list of things they they never wanted to do/ discouraged us against so I will try to keep an open mind right now but that might change!

Camping and sports. No thanks.

If their dad decides to take them camping without me, all the power to him. I'll enjoy the weekend by myself.

I will happily take them on rides at a carnival or theme park cuz that's more my thing.

DH and I don't care about sports and won't require it either! However, right now our middle son is in Soccer, and his grandmother put him in it and he's having a blast! DH goes to most of the games (when he can make them) and I would go but their mom would throw a fit if she ever found out.

@hilsy85: LOL I don't mind theme parks but Disney isn't my thing. I live down the street and I avoid Disney like the plague but it's inevitable that she'll go considering...we live down the street and all of my annual pass friends are dying to take her.

@autumnlove: Same here. The only thing I'm adminant about is circuses.

Pets. We can barely clean after ourselves, plus DH's allergic. I'm not a fan of indoor pools, so until she's older, she's missing out (but she can always cool off at the nearby lake).

Going to the zoo. I just find them terribly boring, I know this is strange! DH loves them! If we have LOs, I think he could just take them on his own.

Disney, for sure. If one of my children wants to go some day, we'll suck it up and do it. But I'd never take them of my own accord.
