Talk with them. Tell them what you are observing and what you need to happen. 50 min naps aren't bad for that age but she should be doing that more often. They should work with you. As for the food I think you are eighth so tell them to try something else before food. Many daycares aren't used to exclusive breastfeeding.

Agh, daycare naps. This was a huge issue for us. He didn't really start napping well at daycare until he was about 11 months old. I think it helped when he moved to the older infant room and they all nap at the same time.

ugh, i hear you on lack of naps at daycare. on the weekends, my 4-month LO gets around 6 hours of naps per day (i know, it's a lot). at daycare, we're lucky if he cumulatively gets 2 hours, which usually occur in 20-45 minute increments. i think there's just too much going on, and they only put him in the crib when he's already fallen asleep (this is some policy that is common around here). and if he wakes up from his nap, they pick him up instead of giving him a chance to soothe himself back to sleep, which he usually does at home.

i'm not an expert by any means, but at least for my LO, i doubt that sending more food would help. there's just a lot of noise and distraction at daycare.

i hope, based on what other people wrote, that our babies are able to take better naps as they grow older!

@BlueWolverine: That sounds so much like my daughter. She wouldn't nap well at all until after she turned a year and went into a different classroom. She wouldn't take longer than a 30 min nap because she was a light sleeper and a very nosy baby (couldn't miss anything!). When she moved to the next room, her naps increased to 1.5 hours, sometimes 2.5, and she would nap in the car on the way home.

@BlueWolverine: We are going through the exact same thing with my LOs day care. He takes at least two solid naps (generally 1-2 hours) when he's home with me, but at day care they can barely get an hour out of him total for the day, usually broken up into 20 minute cat naps. And they constantly overfeed him as a result - he drank 10 ounces more yesterday than he did at home Friday, Saturday and Sunday! It drives me nuts. I'm happy to feed him whatever he needs, but they admit that they give him a bottle whenever he gets fussy because he won't sleep. My LO will move to the next room over the summer, where all the kids eat and nap on the same schedule. I'm really hoping that helps!
