Oh yes. We are both animal lovers. We met when we were both horse trainers. Our lives revolve around animals at home and work. We currently have 4 dogs, 3 nigerian dwarf goats, two of whom are pregnant, 19 chickens (although 6 are chicks we hatched for other people), and 4 horses.

We have 2 dogs and a cat. The cat was mine before we got married, and I don't think we'll get another after she's gone. But we'll always have at least two dogs. I want a snake, but DH won't let me. We looked into a bunny, but apparently it's better to not have dogs with bunnies.

We recently got our second dog. We love having one in the house/family, but it also took us two years between the loss of our last dog and feeling ready to look for the new one. Not sure how the next transition will be, with LO in the picture, but hopefully we won't have to find out for a very long time.

We have a dog. I'm not sure if we'll get another, probably, I like having always a dog in my life. But geeze, they take a lot of time and are expensive and can be stressful. My dog is awesome and really well trained. Never known a dog like her. Hopefully we'll have a yard sometime!

We have a dog that we love. If we ever lost him I think it would take a really long time to ever want another dog. My husband is horribly allergic to cats and I don't see ourselves ever getting any other animal. I grew up with occasional pet hamsters/ fish but with their life spans and effort to keep their cages and tanks clean they just weren't fun/loving enough to take that on.

Two cats. I really don't ever want a dog but I may have to concede at some point.

We have a (white) goldfish. Once we own a home and put down a few more roots in a place with a yard, I want to get a dog. But since I'm due with LO2 in November, it will probably be at least another 1.5 for that happens!

We have 2 dogs. I have always had dogs (and at times cats, turtles and hedgehogs... Of course) and I don't see that ever changing. Kaia adores these dogs and all animals in general so I would be shocked if we ever decided not to have more.

No. We'd all like a large dog, but I'd be the primary caretaker, and with two young toddlers I'm not sure that I'm willing to be responsible for another living thing right now.

Yep two dogs. We'll probably always have dog(s).

We have two cats and a dog. I love having pets, and I think they can provide both companionship and entertainment for the whole family. My in-laws aren't pet people, so they always comment how animals make houses dirty and are more work than they are worth. This type of mentality makes me feel sad, because I think animals are definitely worth having around, and I hate that they look at them as a nuisance. I know people don't have to like animals as much as me, but it seems rude to make comments like that to an animal lover.

2 dogs and 2 cats. LO loves them! I think we'll always have this combo because they work great in pairs. We're super animal people and just make everything work even if its a million times harder (like travel, ergh). Am hoping to avoid all the little pets like hamsters even though I did that as a kid. Id like a horse eventually!!

We are a big pet family. Currently we have a dog and two cats. One more cat coming to live with us soon but shhh don't tell DH.

@2farmmoms: Haha, too cute! I want chickens but DH isn't feeling it. Would love a goat but we're not zoned for one.

We just have one dog, but she's a handful! I'm sure we'll always have a dog or two.

We adopted 2 dogs and a cat when we got married and they are now our 8 year old babies. My LO chases the cat around meowing at her, haha.

No way. I don't think we will ever have a pet besides maybe a fish.

We have a cat. I love her but man she is working my nerve lately. We want to get D an aquarium soon. He LOVES fish!

@WinterBee: I LOVE our goats. I feel like they're the best farm animals to have. They're smart, SO personable, and hilarious to watch/interact with. They're basically like our outdoor dogs. They want to hang out with us a lot, and love it when we go out and play with them. They aren't as needy as dogs but otherwise are very similar. We have 3 Nigerian Dwarf goats. They're very short, stout, and come in lots of fun colors. They seem pretty hardy, and they're pretty cheap and easy to feed. We have two does and one buck. The buck is the one in the photo. Both of our does are bred, due in a couple weeks actually! They're enormous right now! We plan to sell the babies, all except for one buckling who we will keep as a companion to our buck. I'm hoping to milk once a day and let the kids stay with them half time, so we don't have to bottle feed and we get some milk. I'd love to learn to make our own goat cheese. Nigerian Dwarfs are supposed to have the highest butterfat content of any breed, so their milk supposedly tastes the most like cows milk and makes the best cheese. I can't wait. Plus, we'll have adorable little goat babies running around!

We live in an area with tons of coyotes and a slight chance of mountain lions. Our goats are very small and would make an easy target for either of these. So we usually lock them in the barn at night. At the moment they've been sharing a barn with the chickens, but they're getting too crowded. We're in the process of building a goat barn so they have their own space. We need to get it done in time for the kids! All of that said, one of our does is totally attached to our horse, and she often chooses to spend the night in the pasture with him. She's very hard to catch when she knows you want to lock her in. Our hope is that between the neighbors' livestock guardian dogs that share a fenceline, and the very protective mustang horse she lives with, she'll be safe out there at night. So far so good. When we have kids of course they will all have to be in the barn at night with their moms.

Our goats and chickens get along famously. The goats can be a little rough, and they aren't careful, but they never mean harm. Sometimes they almost run the chickens over. They have killed a chick before, but it was tiny and shouldn't have been out with the goats. We separated the chicks after that happened. The full size chickens and even half grown chicks are fast enough to get out of the way. All in all it's a pretty entertaining barnyard we have out there. I enjoy them so much. Plus we have fresh eggs all the time.

Sorry for the long post! I'm pretty enthusiastic about our little farm!
