I only use mine if someone is about to hit me.

Yes I use it when I need it! Nobody around here honks though.

I don't use mine to signal someone in a house to come out. But on the road? Hell yes. I feel it is my duty to inform people of when they are being morons so that they can see the error of their ways and perhaps be less moronic in their driving in the future lol.

No!! It drives me nuts when people honk for anything other than traffic violations.

I try to only honk if someone is about to hit me, or the person in front of me isn't going at a green light.

I only use it when completely necessary or when I'm just a tad pissed off. I don't think I'm too rude about it.

I also have been known to honk my husbands horn (that sounds dirty!)....I don't do it on purpose but I'll see someone about to do something stupid and just reach over and lay on the horn. It drives him crazy (rightfully so!).

I honk regularly when needed, the same kind of things you all have mentioned. Funnily, I definitely honk more than DH. Like someone will cut him off and I will tell him to honk and he ignores me ...

@sunny: haha! I know! They don't and they get all startled when I do it.
Yup, I honk. I give them 3 seconds to go on a green light. (Which is generous, I think.) Then I'll honk.

I'll also honk if they do something stupid.

If they are from out of town, I might give them a little slack and won't honk.
