@BananaPancakes: That's why I don't flip people off. I feel like if I just honk no one will shoot me. But flipping people off seems like asking for trouble haha.
@MsLipGloss: I get so annoyed when I let someone in and don't get the thank you wave. My internal monologue is like "There ya go. Go. Goooooooooo I'm letting you gooooo. There ya go. What… no waive? You can't even acknowledge my good dead? SCREW YOU JERKFACE."

@Mae: *snort* preeeeeecisely! uh, we probably shouldn't drive together. I don't know if the horn could take it!

@Mae: @BananaPancakes: Floridian and proud horn honker. And I honk way more than my husband (who, yes, I have leaned over and honked for and who grew up in the same area as me). But I also don't flip anyone off or retaliate with intentionally jerky driving like slowing way down or tapping brakes if someone is tailing me. I generally don't trust the crazies in this state.
I just feel strongly (like @mae:) that if no one tells you you're doing something wrong, you will just go on repeating your mistakes or doing inconsiderate things. I am helping you and the other people you will drive around in the future. I honestly appreciate when someone does the same for me.

@lindseykaye: I don't do any squirrelly driving moves either. I'll honk, but I won't swerve, stop short, etc.

I used to honk more, just out of annoyance, but I don't do that anymore. I try not to be all road ragey in front of my kids. Now I only honk if I think someone is about to hit my car.

If I feel like someone is being an asshole on purpose, or is trying to get a rise out of me, I actually will just smile or laugh. Like when someone decides I'm going too slow (aka not 20 over the speed limit) and whips around me in a really aggressive way and I get the feeling they want to look in their mirror and see me pissed off -- that's when I laugh. Because I figure nothing will piss off someone trying to piss me off more than if they look back and see me totally unconcerned

@lindseykaye: @MsLipGloss: Agree on no crazy driving. The only thing I'll do is that it really annoys me when people tailgate me. Especially in the 'burbs because there are SOOO many cops around here it is just dumb to speed. When someone tailgates me through an area like that I just make sure I go JUST EXACTLY the speed limit and not 1 mile over. Because f them. lol.

@Mae: Totally! Separated at birth
I also get really mad when I let someone in and they don't thank me. I wildly gesture while exclaiming, "You're welcome!"
And I shake a naughty finger at people I see texting and driving.
Oh, and my latest honking crusade: there's a new stoplight right by my house and people are always running it. So now, anytime in see anyone run it, I LAY on my horn. I like to think that they will think twice before running a red light again. I'm delusional.

@Andrea: yes exactly. I also don't want to get shot or have someone sideswipe me to try to one up me.
My son reported to my mother that I told someone that "you have a stop sign" so now I am more careful.

@looch: could've been worse. He could've reported you said "you have a stop sign ASSHOLE" lol

@Mae: It could have been true, but it's a wakeup call, you know.
You think they're not paying attention, then all of a sudden you hear them singing along to Katy Perry and Maroon 5 and you realize, oh snap, they're actually paying attention and now you've got to either be careful or run the risk they are reporters, like my son!

@looch: haha! Yes, to the music, too. She started singing along to Katy Perry one day so I stopped playing my station. Lol.

I agree it's a regional thing. In NY, people honked for nothing and in the south, honks are rightly reserved for major issues.
Obnoxious honking tends to have an undesired effect on me, recently I was leaving our development and waiting for the light to change, the guy behind me started to honk literally as the lights changed. Oh yeah, I took my sweet time. Your rush is not my emergency buddy.

@Aimed: Oh my gosh people do that all the time here!! My husband says it's multimedia. On the bright side, you don't even have to pay attention to the light because you know the millisecond it changes, someone will "tell" you. Anyhow someone I know once called these people premature ej.... well, you know. So whenever it happens I think of that and just feel sorry for their problems.

Haha I'm a frustated "are you kidding me" honker...I've gotten better now that my daughter has picked up on my road rage habits.

@MrsSCB: I like to give people a thumbs up sign and smile when they are driving particularly assholeishly. Especially if someone whips around me just to be stopped in front of me at the next light.
And I am a definite horn blower. That's what it's there for.
