Do you use cuss words often? Did that change once you had a child? Just curious!

hahhaha. Yes. And DH is a marine and cusses like one. We sometimes have alternate words, but we cuss too much and don't hold back enough. LO is 7 weeks--we better cut it down fast!

I am, and I need to stop. I don't want her picking up any of those words!
wonderful olive / 19353 posts
Hubby and I do. He's worse than I am and I picked mine up from work. D'oh! We definitely need to stop.

I can be. Not the big, bad words but yea I say $hit frequently. DIRTY MOUTH TRYYY ORBITZ
hostess / eggplant / 11068 posts
Not really. I say "eff", though. Not the actual f-word, but literally, "eff". Like, "That's so effin ridiculous."
bananas / 9628 posts
I am. DH is. Both of us work with kids, so we're used to switching in and out of using them, no idea it that will actually help once we have a LO, but I hope it does!

I've never liked bad words. They make me uncomfortable.
pomegranate / 3716 posts
Not really, I substitute thinks that like "what the freak!" or "freaking - A..." haha. I only cuss when I'm REALLY PISSED about something and I always feel wrong saying the words, haha.
pomelo / 5178 posts
Not much; DH is much worse than me. We've both had to learn how to watch ourselves, though, because DD picks up on everything.
pear / 1946 posts
Definitely. I drop a lot of f-bombs. LO is only 6weeks old but I should really stop soon!
cantaloupe / 6800 posts
Glad we're not the only ones, well really i'm the bad one. DH only cusses when he's mad about something but I find myself cussing all.the.time. and it's rubbing off on DH so I guess that's a good sign to stop haha
clementine / 916 posts
We both do. LO is only 2 months old so we haven't been too worried about it yet. I'm really good at switching it off around family and kids so I don't think it'll be too hard, but I wonder about DH sometimes.
coconut / 8299 posts
Not really. I substitute words too like "eff" or "freak" or '"shiz" but it's basically the same thing! haha. I'm trying to stop now that my LO can pick up on those words.
My husband is pretty bad. He doesn't say the F word but he says "Oh Sh*t!" all the time. We were at the pediatrician's office last week and she took out this big ole piece of ear wax from my son's ear. Of course my husband yells "Oh sh*t!" I was so embarrassed. I felt like we were bad parents for cussing in front of our son... and at the doctor's office too. He caught himself but STILL. He needs to stop.

Yes, but ever since becoming pregnant I have gotten a lot better! The only time is if I'm really upset or around other potty mouth people it comes out more!

No I'm not into cursing especially not in public. sometimes I may say a curse word but only at home with DH. Never in front of other people, I just dont think it gives a good impression of myself to curse in the hearing of other people
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21628 posts
No. I never cuss actually. I just don't like to.
grapefruit / 4817 posts
I am around people I know. I almost never curse in public, though, because I tend to agree with @Mrsbells. We're in construction, so it'll be a hard habit to break, but I keep thinking we need to start since DS is 12 weeks.

Not at all. I can't even watch movies that have a lot of the F word in them. My DH doesn't cuss either. I think he does occasionally when he is with certain people (like working on his race car with his buddies at the shop) but that is it.
GOLD / squash / 13464 posts
Uh yes. I need to cut it out. After my first six months of living and working in NYC when I came home to visit my mom informed me that I was now "mean and a potty mouth!". Apparently it stuck. Hubs doesn't swear frequently. But when he does he does so loudly and emphatically! It has much more impact!
coconut / 8681 posts
Nope. Sometimes when I’m super upset one will slip out (nothing horrible though, just damn and sh*t) but it doesn’t happen very often. DH doesn’t cuss at all….just never has!
pear / 1965 posts
Ever heard the expression cuss like a sailor?
Well I was a sailor and DH is one. It is hard when DD is around to NOT cuss but we some how manage not to. But I will work with the Navy and DH obviously does as he is still in, so its hard being around it all day and then turn it off when we get home.

We both do, my husband is a Marine and railroader and has the mouth to prove it. I like to think he's worn off on me, but sometimes I'm worse than him.
It's pretty bad when your 10 year old says you cuss to much.
pomegranate / 3388 posts
Yes! DH and I both swear way too much. DD is 14 weeks old, and we're trying really hard to cut down on our potty mouths! So far we are being marginally successful...

i used to be.. but my husband hated it so i've pretty much stopped. hopefully i won't accidentally let one out in front of the kids.
GOLD / wonderful pea / 17697 posts
I say sh*t and g*d d*mnit sometimes, but not very often.
I say "shut the front door!" a decent amount, though.
grapefruit / 4006 posts
i drop the F bomb all the time using it as an adjective and call horrible people a-holes. i use the b- and the sh- word less often.
GOLD / pear / 1845 posts
No, I never have been. Good thing as she's a little parrot these days!
