LO is 20 months and we'll be watching our nieces 6 and 4. Trying to think of something fun to do with them.
I'm thinking of picking up 2014 glasses, noisemakers, making a fun meal. And maybe YouTubing the countdown in China before M's bedtime? LOL
Any other ideas?
My city has a "First Night" event downtown but I'm not sure if LO will be too young for that. And how long we'll be able to stay since it starts at 5pm and she's usually in bed the latest by 8pm.

@Andrea: are you opposed to confetti? There are cute ideas for making confetti with a hole puncher. DH would go crazy....hahah

um, so fun! i never really thought about doing something with my 11.5 month old, but after the fun she had at christmas, i might have to get some little things!

Not sure if you are planning on staying up until midnight with the 6 or 4 year old, but I saw this on Pinterest and loved the idea:
For each hour before midnight, you write an activity down on a slip of paper. For example: 8pm - bake cookies, 9pm - play Candy Land, 10pm - make confetti, 11 pm - decorate party hats. It adds a little more structure to the night if the kids are used to staying up late.
They put each slip of paper in a balloon to pop each hour, but you could do the same thing with a envelope.

I saw an idea on Pinterest where a family celebrated at noon instead of midnight and I thought that was cute 
ETA: I think they did a balloon drop at noon but I cannot find the pin.

@locavore_mama: I never thought about making NYE fun! Chloe is in bed around 8, so we won't be doing much. Maybe stopping over my parents because it's my dads birthday!

I also saw a balloon drop on Pinterest. I think you could use whatever time to countdown to! I say hit up dollar tree and get some fake champagne glasses, sparkling cider (for the older girls and M if she's into it!), and make a fun dinner (homemade pizzas??).
The only fun thing I am doing with my toddler on NYE is leaving her home with Daddy while I go to a wedding. Haha.

Oh, and last year we ate dinner at Uno's an there was a maybe private party going on. All kids and they had a balloon drop at 7 or 8 and did a big countdown. It was super cute. You could have a dance party, too!

@bpcmarj: ooh I love the homemade pizza idea! Simple and cheap. We can even do individual pies so the girls can make their own.
