I think it's nice to remind ourselves what we have and our impact on the planet so we'll be doing it.

Are you going to an event, or are you just doing it at home? Earth Hour was big in our old town... I should have known you guys would be into it!

@Honeybee: Of course we are! We'll just do it at home. My sister is visiting this weekend and hopefully she'll be into it too!

And thanks for being the one person to respond Guess ecoconsciousness isn't that high on most people's priority list right now

I try to every year. It's really terrible but I end up forgetting or something happens where I can't or I'm not home or SOMETHING. Which is a poor excuse but I do intend to ever single year.

@Mrs. Jacks: My parents are coming up for H's birthday, but they'll go back to their hotel room before 8:30. I really want to do it with the kids, but obviously they'll be in bed by then. Maybe we'll celebrate on east coast time!

@.twist.: Hey, the intention is the start, right?
@Honeybee: Aww... H's birthday weekend. Hooray!

@Mrs. Jacks: I'm sad and incredibly proud at the same time. H's eye teeth are finally coming in, too, which makes me so happy to finally be done with teething, but also sad becuase I love gummy baby smiles. These are the only times I feel hints of baby rabies, btw! The rest of the time I'm fine.

I haven't heard of it before. I'm going to look into it. Thanks for the link. I think it's so important to teach our kids about our impact on this planet. Just today I was trying to explain extinction, kind of a big concept for a toddler.

@Honeybee: Yeah, no baby rabies here right now!
@Mrs. Train: That was a hard concept for us too. Lala desperately wants to be a dino doctor when she grows up and it was difficult explaining that the dinos don't exist any more. She says she'll "just fix them". I said "Honey, they tried that in Jurrasic Park and it didn't turn out so well." Strangely, she didn't get the reference

@Mrs. Jacks: sorry I meant to reply earlier but my work comp was having a tough time with the link and then I got distracted (pesky clients!). I actually normally am bad about this kind of thing... But even though M is much too young to understand I want to get in the habit of exposing her to important topics like this so now that you've brought it to my attention I'll definitely do it!

The link won't work on my phone, can anyone explain to me what this is?

@Bao: to participate all you need to do is commit to turning all your lights (and preferably other things that use electricity) off from 8:30-9:30pm this Saturday. It's meant to raise awareness about global warming and other Eco issues the Earth faces.

We're going to try... A little candle-lit picnic on the floor could be fun!
