E's had a bad cold, and I think he might have an ear infection, so he's eating dinner of his choice (PBJ, goldfish, cheese stick, blueberries and a mini cupcake for an extra special treat) on the living room floor while watching chuggington...

Absolutely. If they'll eat it I'll serve it when they're sick.

Oh yes, if she wants to eat anything while sick I consider it a win, because usually she isn't interested in eating if she is sick
pomegranate / 3393 posts
Totally! TV, juice, popsicles, pudding, extra cuddles and love, the whole bit
GOLD / wonderful pomegranate / 28905 posts
Yup, all the TV and whatever they will eat, within reason.

Bennett has spent the past three days literally having Peppa Pig on 12 hours a day, eating Popsicles, having meals on the couch, and wearing jammies. So yeah.

Totally! I would say LO would be doing the exact same thing as yours and but he would want chocolate instead of cupcakes.
Oh and almond butter instead of peanut butter (allergies).
nectarine / 2834 posts
Totally...DD1 just had a stomach bug and it was TV and apple juice all day long!
grapefruit / 4817 posts
Yup. DS currently has scarlet fever and has almost exclusively been eating buddy fruit and cool ranch Doritos for the past 2 days.

Oh yes. And then we pay for it dearly after he is better : )

Yes, although after watching her strain during a bowel movement, I'm trying to get her diet back on track. We've been watching a lot of Elmo.
grapefruit / 4988 posts
Definitely. I let her eat whatever she can stand, plus I give her juice if she's having trouble with solids (juice is like her favorite thing ever, and pretty much off limits normally).

Anything goes when he's sick. Anything he wants to eat, TV all the time if it helps. Thankfully he hasn't been sick very often.
cantaloupe / 6131 posts
Oh for sure. DS doesn't want to eat anything and flat refuses dairy when he's sick. When it was really bad with a stomach bug, he wouldn't even drink water. So its white Gatorade on ice, orange juice, McDonald's French fries, marshmallows, yogurt melts, saltines - whatever he wants.
papaya / 10570 posts
Definitely. E has a cold right now, so she ate Quavers for tea & slept in bed with us for the second half of the night.

Definitely. All the cuddles, sympathy and treats. DH definitely doesn't get the same treatment though, lol. He says my sympathy runs out at 48 hours.

Yep. She had a stomach bug this week and got shows, special juice (pedialyte), and once her stomach was a bit better, whatever she wanted for lunch.

@travelgirl1: Ha! My husband would be lucky with 48 hours. I had the flu for 3 days last week and as soon as I was starting to feel better my husband got sick. After about 12 hours I was like "Ok, you seem better now, get up and start helping me." (in my defence, he had stayed up all night watching movies to "take my mind off of not feeling well" and then slept until noon because "my stomach feels better but I have a bad headache").

Hmm... maybe a little indulgent? But the kids are in daycare and sick all the time, so I'm not THAT indulgent unless they seem sicker than normal!

Am I the only one that isn't? Haha. My husband likes to treat her when she's sick, though so maybe he evens us out. I let her watch some TV but then if she isn't bed ridden, I turn it off for some parts of the day to play music and let her find something quiet and comforting to play with. As for food, we typically just eat our normal things and she doesn't really ask for much. I will give her more popsicles, though because popsicles help keep fluids up.

Depends on how sick. A cold, nah. A fever, yup. Anything goes.
grapefruit / 4923 posts
we try not to if it's a minor illness, like a cold or a slight fever. i don't want to encourage him in thinking that staying home from daycare = more fun. he already resists going to daycare sometimes, so we don't need more of that!

If it's a true sickness absolutely, I will do anything to make my girls more comfortable. We just had the flu 2 weeks ago, and DD1 was allowed to eat whatever she wanted and drink whatever she needed to just keep things down. I do more snuggles, more TV, more snacks, ect.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
DD is only 15 mo so it's not like she'll demand anything... But we def are more lax with schedules, screen-time, and food when she's sick!
