I'm trying to decide if we should actually mark the day with a small gift or if we should just stick with a treat. We are making cards for family and friends.

I'm going to, but mostly just because I love buying him things and my husband thinks I'm spoiling him, so I need to look for "occasions" I'm going to get a Peppa Pig Valentines day book (we're in a REAL Peppa phase) and a little stuffed toy.

Yep. I talked about this in a thread the other day. We are big on gifts for holidays and definitely will give her a few things for VDay.

No. I don't think of it as a gift giving holiday. DH and I don't ever give gifts for each other on V-day. We might go to dinner or something but I more use it as an excuse to have a much needed date night.
As for my kids, I can see us always making a special dinner or dessert but I don't see us ever doing gifts.

I haven't really decided. I saw something on Pinterest to do a little scavenger hunt to find little heart stickers throughout the house as a fun activity to wake up to, but I don't really have any gift ideas.

@erinbaderin: I try to only buy on occasions but as LO gets older and has more interests it is getting harder! So I feel like Valentine's Day is a good excuse
@mediagirl: Fun! What are you getting her?
@MUI831: We don't give each other gifts on Valentine's usually. Cards, maybe flowers (from DH) and a nice dinner. But I feel like I want to do something special for LO. She is making cards for all her loved ones - maybe I should just make HER a card?
@BabyBoecksMom: That's cute! Except I feel like it is a little too similar to an Easter egg hunt... gotta compartmentalize those holidays!

I won't this year, but I will once he is old enough to remember. My mom got me gifts for most holidays and they are special memories to me that I want to repeat for my kids.

I got her a Dr set b/c I see her interested in playing with them now and wanted her to have her own. Vday seemed like a good excuse

I ordered them Anna and Elsa dolls for V day but already gave them to them! Both sets of grandparents have given them V day presents already too. I'll probably get them each a book or some new stickers.

I like any excuse to buy LO something like @erinbaderin: I think if I attach it to a holiday no one can say I'm spoiling him! Ha! He's getting a Peppa Pig plate and a Lightning McQueen plate and bowl.
