I'm pretty proud of my parallel parking! I used to be terrible at it, until one day I realized that if I imagined myself floating ten feet above the car that I could visualize the best angle much more clearly. I tried that, and it worked!
Are you good at parallel parking? Who's better: you or your SO?

I taught myself how to parallel park the night before my driving test. I did great that night but failed that portion of the test the next day. 
I haven't had to parallel park since. Thank God! DH is good at parallel parking though.

I am an awesome parallel parker (born out of city necessity!) . . . but DH seems to fly/land his car into spots. It's hard to describe, but he is an incredible driver.

yup... but now that my new car came with a rear back-up camera, it's even easier! was still pretty good at it before that too. i'm a perfectionist when it comes to parking!

I lived in downtown New Orleans for 5 years, and I had to parallel park everyday at my condo. So I joke that I can park a Suburban in a mini-Cooper sized space!

Yes because I had to perfect it for my driver's license exam. DH is horrible at it but he got his license in a different state and it wasn't part of the test.

I'd say I'm average. If I get a decent sized spot, I can whip right in there. With a smaller spot (I drive a Dodge Nitro) it can take me a minute or two

@PurrpleTulips: Seriously? There are driving tests without parallel parking as a scored event? I didn't know that! Although I am so, so grateful that I learned early (and was forced to practice often), that would have saved me so much heartache and stress as a teen!

No I am not. I try to avoid it at all costs. Also, I don't really know how to parallel park. Instead of pulling forward and backing in, like my husband does, I just pull in regular and then try to wiggle my car so it's sort of parallel to the curb. But I always end up with the end of my car sticking out! Thank goodness I don't live in a city where I'd need to do it ever.

I'm pretty good, and now my new vehicle has a sensor if I get too close to another car...makes the reversing so much easier when doing it!

@MsLipgloss:yep in Ohio they don't do parallel parking but rather do a maneuverability test. I had friends in college who never in their entire driving experience parallel parked because they didn't know how; if they had to park in a situation where PP was needed they would just drive around until they found a spot they could pull into or if someone else in the car could PP they would get out and have the other person do it.

I'm not the best but I'm pretty good. Especially. Considering I don't do it often. I remember at my 18th birthday we were going to a male stripper club and found a place right in front of the club but I couldn't parallele for my life. I stranger offered to park me. Haha

I'm ok at it, but I don't get any practice because I never go anywhere where I need to parallel park.

I am not good at it at all. I am much better if there's a one-way street and I can park on the left because I can just look out of the window to see where I am. Usually I'll just drive around until I find a giant space. In college I used to drive until I found a spot and then switch places with my roommate and have her park. So ridiculous!

I am, if I do say so myself, sick-nasty at parallel parking. Living in NYC with a car for four years (until it was stolen back in March, waaaah!) will do that to a girl. I can get into a spot with only an inch or two to spare!

Yup, having grown up jn NYC, I can get into the tightest parking spaces. I miss parallel parking.

I have to admit that I am. When I was in College is when I mastered the art of it. There were not many parking lots so to say and majority is street parking. So especially in the winter I didnt want to walk that far (Minnesota) so I made myself attempt to getting into spaces if they were closer.

@BoogieBea: Man wouldn't it be great if there were a parallel parking sporting event? Where we would each get 3 attempts to park a car in a tight spot, and got graded on speed, straightness, number of turns required, and accuracy.
You sound pretty good at parallel parking though, so you're not invited to compete in my new sport.

I lived in SF for several years, so I get in and out of any spot pretty easily. Mr. Jacks is a horrible parallel parker and always blames his F250, but I've parallel parked that thing like nobody's business in Seattle!
