@mrs. wagon: Oh, good one. Nothing is more unimpressive than when there isn't enough food.

i am definitely impressed but do not aspire to do the same myself.

No, i just think why they would spend so much effort on a childs birthday. I would spend lots of time and money on the cake and activities rather than decor. The kid will only remember the cake and how much fun they have not about what kind of favors the mom bought.

I think I would be impressed, but I've never been to this type of party. I guess everyone I know is super low key. As in, not concerned with Pinterest type stuff.

@Rubies: yes.
I'm not impressed when it's an adult party disguised by a bunch of unrealistic kid decor & unrealitic foods for kids. It just seems flashy and insincere.
I do love when it's child-orientated and actually fun for kids.

if its fun for kids and adults, then yes I am impressed and if its done on a little budget.
lets face it, anyone can throw an AMAZING party without a budget, it takes talent to throw a fun party on a meager budget.

@Rubies: this. A thousand times!
If it's truly set up for a kid to have fun, awesome! If it's clearly meant for pretty blog-worthy photos, meh. Chevron, paper straws, mason jars ... I could go on. Not that these things aren't lovely in their own right, but they're so clearly not for the kids.

Yes!! Small details, good flow and good food make for an excellent party. I'm always impressed by parents who think of it all.

Sure, its impressive if your kids party looks like a fancy blog post... Folks really put a lot of time and resources into these events! but it personally doesn't do anything for me. Im lowkey and more old fashion.
It's kind of like "vintage" weddings with burlap & mason jars

I'm totally impressed! It takes so much time and effort to put something like that together. But I know it's not for everyone and Pinterest shouldn't be a new standard and no one should feel bad with having a normal party.
With that said, I still hope to put a photo ready party together for DD, but there was no way I could have done it for her 1st.

I am impressed when I see simple, laid-back parties these days where everyone looks like they're having a good time. The big birthday parties can be eye candy, but they seem over the top to me.
