I usually host or attend at least one cookie exchange each December. I actually have one to go to this weekend and I'm so excited about it 
For those who don't know, a cookie exchange is where everyone bakes a certain amount of their favorite kind of Christmas/holiday cookie (usually 6-8 dozen). Once everyone is together, they split up the different cookies evenly, so each person ends up w/ a 6-8 dozen of a variety of cookies.

@BabyBoecksMom: I've never participated but have always wanted to bc I LOVE cookies. So many people have dairy, egg or nut allergies with their kiddos so it would be tough with my group of friends...

Yup, this Sunday! My mom has been hosting one for the past few years now. We each bring four dozen and then exchange.

It's not a cookie exchange in the traditional sense, but every year I get together with three friends, and we each bring a cookie recipe and the ingredients. Then we put on Christmas music and bake together, and split the end product! Yum!

Never done this, but my sister and I get together and bake a bunch of kinds and split it so the work/cost is cut in 1/2.
