I get sooo annoyed when I order a soda and the syrup/soda ratio is off. A perfectly mixed, bubbly but flavorful drink is so hard to find sometimes! So when I find one I drink several...yum. DH thinks I'm crazy. Anybody else picky about fountain drinks?

It's the worst when they run out of the syrup and it's all that carbon stuff...or whatever it's called, gross!

I don't really drink much soda (I prefer sweet tea or lemonaid) but I dated a guy who couldn't drink sprite or 7up from a fountain because he could taste the 'mold' he claimed accumulated inside the machines. He was crazy.

I don't drink pop but DH does and he is VERY particular. I usually get the "this tastes like sh*t" spiel if it's off.

I dont drink soda but when I used to, I found that some places like costco tasted really flat and watered down and nothing like the bottled/canned version

Haha! YES! I'm specific about Coca-Cola, NOT Pepsi. And if the ratio or bubbles are off, I don't like to finish the drink. McD's is always perfect!

@Bao: Yeah, all carbonation is no bueno. And it takes forever for them to change it out sometimes!
@prettylizy: Gross! I do wonder how many places clean their spouts--I worked at one place where we soaked them every night, but have worked at others where they never got cleaned.
@Ash: Yep, that's me! Now DH says "this is a pretty good soda, right?" and tries to predict whether I'll like it or not
@Mrsbells: Flat drinks are my least fav! I'd rather have too much carbonation than too much syrup, yuck.
@shopaholic: McD's is one of the most consistent places with soda, I agree! I'm a Dr. Pepper person, but if I know a place doesn't have good DP I get Coke b/c they're less likely to mess up the ratio. -
Yes! And I hate when I order Diet Coke and they bring me Diet Pepsi, tell me you don't have Coke products and I will order something else.
My cousin swears that McDonald's Coke is different then anywhere else. She will drive there just to get a Coke.

@tororojo: I totally believe your palate is more refined than mine! I very rarely find fault in fountain soda unless it's obviously running out of syrup - then I can tell! Or maybe it's just rare for them to mess up Coke - my go-to fountain drink?
@Smurfette: OMG, I've had that happen to me one too many times, so now I always ask: "Do you have Coke?" and if they say they have Pepsi, I'm like "Uhh... I'll have a lemonade."

@Smurfette: I get so disgusted if I get a Pepsi when I'm expecting a Coke. They don't taste similar AT ALL!!! Usually people are really good though and when I ask for a Coke, they'll say "Is Pepsi okay?" and I'm like "No, I'll have a lemonade instead." hahaha

Omg! Yes!!! It just tastes so different when there's too much/little syrup or carbonation. Then there's the MAJOR difference between Dr. Pepper and Dr. Thunder. Don't you dare tell me Dr. Thunder tastes the same as Dr. Pepper!! No sir!!
I'm also particular about my ketchup. Has to be Heinz, not Hunt's. I can taste the difference!

Yeah I dont get why people think its okay to substitute drinks, somtimes I order orange juice and get Hi-C orange soda

Yes, I think it has to do with working and replacing it for years, I can usually tell the place exactly what is wrong with it (yep I'm that crazy customer!) I love me some fountain pop!!
