DH isn't! This morning he sliced strawberries with a steak knife and I just found him mincing garlic with a carving knife. Drives me nuts to use the wrong knife.

@Rubies: seriously. I wandered in to try to figure out what was taking so long. He's just making little itty bitty slices.

No. I lost the sheet that tells me which knife is used for what. As it I use just 4 knife types including the bread knife. The redt stay in the block.

If it's for cutting, it has to be sharp. If it's for buttering bread, it must be a dinner or butter knife.

Nope, I use like the same two knives for everything, a 6 and 8 inch chefs knife.

Yes! DH always uses something way too small for the job. I'm also picky about brand....Global all the way for my small hands

Yes! Certain knives are made for certain tasks. However, I will use my santoku for almost anything.

@betsyboop: me too! I feel it does the best job with the least mess. But maybe I just have crap knives?
I tend to use a bigger knife than the job requires, lol. I use my 8 inch chefs knife for pretty much everything.

Yeah, that drives me crazy too. Big serrated bread knives do not work as well on vegetables as a chef's knife (except tomatoes, sometimes). Just makes me cringe when I catch him doing it.
