I would love to get my kids a dog, but dogs are so much work!
We probably won't be an animal raising family.

I told DH yesterday that I want him to get me a big dog that I'll name Sherlock.We have decided however, not to have indoor pets. We'll probably have a few outdoor ones though, when LO's come along.

Nope. One child is enough to clean up after, not adding a dog to the mix.

My son is obsessed with dogs, but I doubt we'll ever get one.

Probably only something lower maintenance....like a fish tank. Although that still requires work. I would rather not have any pets!

Already have two dogs, and to be honest I have difficulty with the idea of getting a pet FOR a child. Our dogs will be very near equals with the kids:)

We have two dogs but they are SO high maintenance. I'm so done with dogs when our two pass away someday in the far away future. Our LO will have the experience of dogs when she is little. We can't get cats because my husband is allergic.

We have a cat, and plan to get a dog in the future. I don't agree with the idea of getting pets FOR kids though (except maybe fish). Any animals we get are just family pets, owned by the entire family.
